- demo Windows Only one wish by Fairlight [web] & The Black Lotus [web]
- dude, this is like ten demos in one! while i'm really annoyed by productions that just stack disconnected fx sequences (and this one clearly does!) one has to love the wonderful ideas slideshowed in this one. i especially dig the excellent streetart character sequence and the 2d vector compositings. i can only hope that you guys make one coherent production out of one of those awesome styles. feel free to leave out the dull 3d heads with gas masks though ;) ...

- demo Windows Nazca by Cocoon [web]
- what year is this? 2008? from the very idea to the flyby realisation, this has 1998 written all over it. i'm sorry to sound harsh (and i still respect the effort made), but there are a lot of excellent examples (also in this very competition) that demos have far evolved from this kind of productions in the last ten years.

- demo Windows The Seeker by Still [web]
- very solid still quality and definitely one of the better demos this year (hence the thumb). however, while i don't find anything wrong or misplaced in this production, i also don't find anything special about it, something that stands out. besides the one original moment when things pause and the hull encloses the seeker, the lack of new visual ideas seems to be drowned in a mess of blur, glow and noise. yes, i don't think seeking ribbons do it anymore. yes, the music was close to being kitschy for my taste. yes, praise for "direction" in still demos seems a bit overstressed ...

- demo Windows Seiryoku by Inque [web]
- good example of "bad direction" (since it's a matter of discussion atm). very few, uninspired visual ideas stretched in long uneventful shots. ever since their marvellous release at last year's evoke, i anticipate inque release with extra excitement. this one is a let downer though ...

- demo Windows Inflorescence by mfx [web]
- although i'm not really into the giger-ish aesthetics of some of the shots (yawn!) the whole thing has enough a/v signature that it certainly works for me. impressive!

- demo Linux Windows Grand Central by Outbreak [web]
- i'm not much of a fan of productions like these. too cheesy, trivial, random and uninspired. but this somehow reminded me of amiga demos from the early 90ies. and it so happened that i kinda enjoyed it. fair enough ;) .

- demo Windows MORON by mfx [web]
- exquisit! seriously, this is the first production that really caught my attention in months now. original aesthetics, perfect match of visuals and sound and the stunt of bringing together a zillion and one colours (and shapes) in harmony :) . the only thing really annoying: the stupid teddybear. get rid of it already and add a no-bear-for-me-thx version ...

- demo Linux Windows Amiga PPC/RTG MacOSX PPC MacOSX Intel SGI/IRIX fit-039: Boy by Fit [web]
- nothing special at all. in fact, it's of very mediocre quality. especially the visuals lack design skills a great deal (the font/texts alone deserve a thumb down). sorry, piggie is all i can spare for this one ...

- wild Animation/Video Give me Future or Give me Death by Inward [web]
- elfh: there are literally hundrets of animation festivals around the globe that are accepting international entries all year round (check for deadlines) ... you shouldn't have a problem finding enough compatible venues. if your film will be accepted is another thing tho ... ;) good luck!

- demo Windows 60 seconds for Mr. Light by anadune [web]
- i appreciate the attempt for doing something character driven. however, i find the animation rather clumsy, the direction/narration uninspired, the music cheesy and the in-between fx sequences (of which some looked pretty neat) completely detached from the rest. pigface.
