- i know, this is way too flight404-ish, but after all, we've been recycling cubes, ribbons and tunnels for years. so what the heck ...

- demo Windows passing by Still [web]
- i have to admit that i totally enjoyed this one! true, it's not loud and it's not flashy, but it's not empty nor boring either. it's simply very very focussed on one visual idea and different facets of it. and that is something i can't appreciate enough! most complete still demo in a while for me ...

- demo Windows Challenger Deep by Traction [web] & Brainstorm [web]
- long lost thumb! i truely believe that, due to their (his) distinctive minimal trademark style, traction (preacher) has been one of the most inspiring forces in the demoscene over the past few years. and continues to be so. this production is no exception. one shot however got me worried though: what the heck does the swimming fishbone do in there? while one is easily seduced by these beautiful deepsea realms full of microscopic life the swimming fishbone is the unpleasant out-of-place kick in the head ... but other than that: brilliant!

- one can never get enough of navis' versatility when it comes to introducing new visual ideas. there's more than plenty of wonderful details and clever bits in this production. although it doesn't really work for me as a whole, self-contained piece of work, it easily combines enough creative originality for me to thrive on. i might not really get navis' storyline here (there isn't any cornier SF than an anthead getting screwed on robot feet) and i still think that a more consequent approach visually (sticking to the microscope visualisation, for example) would make a better demo, but heck, this blend of beauty sure made my day :) .
micksam7: fortunately, there is no such thing as a "typical ASD demo" no more - rulezadded on the 2008-07-27 21:23:52
