- demo Linux Windows Luna : Reactivation by vovoid [web]
- Feels like this has been influenced by Haujobb, particularly "Liquid... wen?" and the dance made me think of TBL & Ocean machine along with parts of the music. The greatest suprise of the compo for me. Liked it a lot.

- demo Playstation 2 Aura for Laura by SoopaDoopa [web]
- Sweet one, interesting soundtrack well coupled with the visuals and manages to make the effects interesting even when several are just an evolution of fairly standard ones.

- demo Windows Roadside Picnic by Brainstorm [web]
- Doesn't seem to work correctly on my GF9600GT, or alternatively is super-low on effects but I doubt that. First thing I see is the static and then the floor but nothing else... later some snow with the floor... :P

- demo Windows Within Epsilon by Pyrotech
- This demo is not completely bad but to say it follows the ASD formula is very much an insult to ASD. This is a bunch of separate scenes, some of them fairly good looking and some having objects that may have drawn a bit of inspiration from, among other sources, ASD demos.
The music sure isn't up to par with the visual side as was already said and in time this won't look so hot even technically. It began well but went mostly downhill from there.
Good effort from a name that did suprise me a bit, definitely a step up from their previous work but lose the tagline and start designing a bit more and maybe we'll see something truly remarkable in the future. - isokadded on the 2008-08-29 18:14:06
- demo MS-Dos Sperm by Five Coders
- Ugly jokedemo that tells the story of sperm traveling towards it's final destination, the death star. Seems unfinished too.

- demo Windows Fascination by Traction [web] & Brainstorm [web]
- I'm a sucker for 80's-style and don't see anything wrong with only having an idea or two and running with them. Doing that produces a tight & focused demo although one should be careful about not letting it run for too long, this one is bordering on that but didn't cross the line for me.
This also deviates from the standard traction demo and while the content is somewhat familiar it still brings something new to the spaghetti genre. Finally, I prefer the clean look here to the typical amount of elements surrounding the central effect in recent traction prods. - rulezadded on the 2008-06-16 14:51:18
- demo Windows Lifeforce by Andromeda Software Development [web]
- As Pixtur said, ASD are the masters of transition and show it time after time. From Dreamchild to Lifeforce, nobody makes a demo with a flow as smooth as they do.
I'd say they do "Baroque" demos, very elaborate and detailed. The opposite of minimalist. I feel they are like poetry, not every one of the 100 places we go thru is perfectly connected and meaningful, it's meant to convey emotion.
The end result is not always as good as with Lifeforce. This time there is a clear and meaningful theme and few things would suit this style as well as life and death. The infofile is also excellent, few artists bother to expain their works like ASD has done with a few of their latest demos. - rulezadded on the 2008-06-16 00:06:31

- demo Windows fr-041: debris. by Farbrausch [web]
- It's massive. It takes my breath away. It definitely is a solid piece both artistically and technically.
Kasparov is what I immediately drew comparisons to. They share the idea of a machine-generated world that at first look seems like a real one, the surface cracking to show the cold dark unreal nature. While Kasparov ultimately left it at that despite making the disconnect more and more apparent as the demo progressed, Debris ends in the extreme, ripping the whole world apart, leaving only static behind.
It's a really well designed whole where each and every part works toward the desired effect. Should not be missed. - isokadded on the 2008-06-15 19:46:59
