So, did Vesuri have anything to do with the old Bomfunk MC's? :D
No :)
Quote:I remember that he said on #Amigascne something about that this intro was an advert or something :)

Yes, this is a silly crossover/remix of that and a beer TV commercial. I have no idea why it resonated so well with the Assembly crowd back then. - isokadded on the 2016-08-28 19:55:34

1. Is the red sky BG a dithered gfx-bitmap?
2. How did you managed to obtain such a nice Gouraud efx on the vector parts?
1. There's a looping 16 pixel high dithered 1 bitplane gradient with the colors changed using the copper. Just a typical copper gradient with some help from a dithered bitplane.
2. By filling the polygons using an appropriate part of a radial gradient texture. This technique was first seen on the AGA demo Deep by CNCD in 1995 but works just as well on OCS as well. - rulezadded on the 2015-07-06 12:17:11

Can you tell us a little more about how you authored and replayed the soundtrack with modulation? I mean, I don't see any obvious tracker doing that out of the box.
It was a bit of a pain. Like all the other dA JoRMaS prods this one uses the TrackerPacker playroutine to play a normal ProTracker mod. What I did was to add some new PT commands for the player allowing me to switch the modulations on and off and to control the length of a loop of the modulating channel's data. That's pretty much trivial; the authoring part was nastier though. I wrote some code to generate modulating data (samples but interpreted as data by Paula), write the results to files and load them as samples in ProTracker. Then I used a small binary to switch the modulations on while running ProTracker to be able to hear the results while composing. Due to the nature of modulation reasonable results often require some experimentation and with this rudimentary process it was a bit tricky - and definitely not very creative. That's why the track is very simple and straight forward. I'm sure much more interesting results could be had by writing some appropriate (interactive?) tools, even for creation of the modulating data.
StarTrekker has an AM and an FM button and Audiosculpture may have these features as well, but I haven't given them a try. - isokadded on the 2015-07-02 17:43:31

Did you manage to mention or show it to any of the guys?
We talked about it with RJ Mical but in the end he was so busy with the autographs and interviews that I couldn't show it to him. A pity. - isokadded on the 2015-06-30 10:33:02

there have been some OCS prods before with real time audio modulation, at least this and this.
I haven't checked out the other one, but Dunne Lul modifies some of the samples during playback (basically gradually distorting them more and more). That's not modulation at all. - isokadded on the 2015-06-29 12:18:29

- Photon, the mod is actually quite small - it's mostly the size of the images that causes the memory requirement and that could have been improved in multiple ways. The runtime chip memory requirements are quite heavy due to the HAM part (around 200k) but by holding back on the graphics or doing them in vector form for instance the thing could run on an Amiga 1000 with 256k of chip memory, at least if you ditch the OS. There's a lot to be improved here; no design at all, the song and the modulation could be more innovative, the writer parts could be used to prepare for the coming parts (with the expense of chip mem consumption). I'm actually hoping this to be an inspiration for things to come - this is definitely just the beginning. Regarding the picture quality - sure, that's the easy part :P There are some way more interesting things the HAM mode can offer - unfortunately not seen here in this small production...

- kenshigros, as you would know if you knew anything about demos or Amiga coding in general, absolutely no code in this production has been used from any other demo than 'Major Release', which was also written from scratch by me. The source code of this production is distributed along with the executable for your kind to study and learn. You are free to compare it to any demo. You won't find any code copying so please stop making false accusations and spreading outright lies. Thank you.
