- We have updated the demo archive with a new version of the song, which now has some equalization tricks to kill the harshness and make the voice and the piano more uniform, as well as some melodyne treatment for the voice to bring the points that pitch drifted in tune.
You can download just the tune here if you do not want to download the complete archive again. - isokadded on the 2011-07-30 20:26:08

- Navis, next time I'll sing in German. Then we'll talk about sensitive dependence on initial conditions... =P

- That would be indeed cool, but I don't have the necessary equipment for piano recording.. and my actual piano is so old and detuned that it would take a professional tuner 6 tuning sessions to restore it back to its former glory.. =/ And you know.. Greece is in a financial mess atm.. piano tuning?.. not a priority =P

- ps: Thank you. Just thank you for being spot on. The notion and the sentiments I wanted to convey with Butterfly effect had nothing to do with production or mastering. It's a live played piano (or well a digital piano as a midi controller and a steinway patch if you prefer) and a voice, which despite the negative comments it has garnered, was exactly to my liking and the way it was brought out expressed what I had to say. No autotune, no multiple takes.. just a bit of reverb and serve. Later on, navis dressed it up with the visuals which I also found very fitting to the music and the sentiments. All in all I'm very happy and satisfied with the result and it conveys perfectly the things I meant to "say". I wouldn't change a thing.
If however you feel that you want to express your own messages, here is the piano track for you to sing your heart out to.
Oh, and thom if you feel like bursting into laughter with your buds some more, here's me singing it even faster =P - isokadded on the 2011-07-26 00:12:03

- smash, the simplicity in the choice of words and "events" on the lyrics is very much intentional. They are "shallow" on purpose in order to resemble the simplicity and the perceived "insignificance" of the decisions one makes given a choice, like choosing to kiss a particular person on the first date, or choosing to go on stage and sing with a broken microphone (which incidentally is not about a song at all, but that's just my intended perception. Interpretations always vary =).
Trauma Zero, considering that I wrote the music FOR the lyrics, just the backing piano track would make no sense, so no there's not going to be a vocal-less version. I could send you a version that I'm singing, but I doubt you'd like it either =P - isokadded on the 2011-07-25 11:20:21

- Decipher, mog: Although I cannot deny that going full particles doesn't have a Fairlight inspirational merit, the techniques used and the approach in butterfly effect are totally different. Of course the whole "can do too at 30fps" is just poking innocent fun.
On the music side, an interesting piece of trivia is that this is the first post-2000 ASD demo where the visuals were written on the music instead of the other way around.
The theme of the song revolves around fate, and how fate brings us in front of little, seemingly insignificant choices which can lead to a chain of events and certain outcomes down the line which can also be perceived as fate.. but is it really fate? - isokadded on the 2011-07-25 02:10:23

- And the lyrics for those who can't make them out =)
Who would you rather kiss
on the very first date if you had to chose?
How big a bet you'd make
on your very first game if you couldn't lose?
What would you rather wear
on the very first dance with the one you like?
And how would you really sing
on a difficult song with a broken mike?
Small decisions,
life incisions,
big in retrospect
Bracing gently,
consequently,
the butterfly effect.
Where would you rather go
on your very last June that you spent apart?
What would you leave behind
on your very last smile before you depart?
Who would you rather kiss
on your very last chance of another start?
And how would you rise again
on a difficult slope with a broken heart?
Small decisions,
life incisions
big in retrospect.
Scopeless seeding,
always feeding,
the butterfly effect. - isokadded on the 2011-07-24 23:14:02

- I like the idea and the attitude very much in this one. I'd be really impressed though if it was an original soundtrack. =P
