- You made a sphere a character I was able to care about, to jump forward in my seat, hoping he wouldn't be caught. I could say so much else about this demo, but . . . that's what impressed me the most.

- Traditionally, artists have learned by copying other artists. And much art gains from building on and referring to earlier works. This is part of the strength of tradition as a thing. T.S. Eliot, in many ways a problematic figure, still had a point when he said (as I said to you at the party) "Immature poets imitate, mature poets steal". (Darkness did what I want to do someday, to capture a sense of a time in history and of emotions many people are feeling at the same time. ) Your craft matters, and you did more than copy. You added something. Also, the music really didn't sound like 64K music, it sounded more real. Kudos for that. This intro communicated an idea successfully. Take some satisfaction from that.

To all the stuff you said -- Yes.
re everyone:
Thank you for your encouragement. Being in such a competitive field as 64K right now inspires me, and someday I hope to give my teachers and mentors and the folks who have supported me reason to be proud. (: - isokadded on the 2017-05-07 21:26:42

- I was already motivated to keep going, but man you guys are encouraging and helpful. Yeah, the rotation issue is a known problem that I forgot to fix. Some other stuff didn't get fixed because I spent Friday night shaving off a K at a time. (;
There will be more and better demos from me (: - isokadded on the 2017-04-19 17:39:11

- by the way, this demo was supposed to look handmade, and most of the textures were supposed to look like chalk. I was thinking 70s animation kind of thing.
People tell me that nobody understands my demos. But I wonder if you have to understand or can just let stuff wash over you. I do that all the time. - isokadded on the 2016-01-11 14:56:41

- Party version. Then again, this demo will get edited as much as my other very very imperfect and sloppy demos have been. That is, not at all. Whatever.

- And I honestly didn't heap enough praise on this. I was too busy trying to be helpful like I was in art class doing a crit. :D
The first thing that came to mind was GODDAMN I HATE YOU GUYS.
So smooth, even with glitch.
Kudos (: - isokadded on the 2015-08-18 21:55:44

- Praise:
This looks very nice and explores some interesting visual concepts. Black and white doesn't feel like a gimmick, it feels appropriate. Some pleasing liquid effects, nice use of layering, different use of noise that you usually see. With all those zebra stripes you're starting to make me think of Quite (;
Criticism:
The what looks to me like reading the Normal-Z buffer moment could be cut. I'd also have cut the logo and the non-stripey part of the kaleidoscope. Also the angular fake-glass 3D image looks good until around 4:59 and a few other places when it suddenly looks cheap as the effect falls away. Those things feel out of place.
Overall too long. Needed to focus on what appear to be the core elements--the stripes, the "landscape", the triangle, the liquid tunnel.
The music didn't seem to go anywhere very much. I wish I could give more helpful feedback on that.
I would watch this again, in snippets at least.
Glitch demos are fine and this is one of the best I've seen, but . . . it isn't necessary to be UberNosfe and make them SIX MINUTES LONG.
Kudos guys (: - rulezadded on the 2015-08-18 21:53:14
