- to everyone who complained about the size: final will probably be a bit bigger, not smaller. most of the file size goes into meshes, and both the planet and the landscape meshes are handmade (awesome work by atom!) and not easily generated.
as we've said multiple times now, we're done with optimizing for size (heck, look at the size of the player executable!). these meshes are a lot better than anything we'd have been able to do procedurally, and definitely worth their size. - isokadded on the 2010-04-08 21:53:57

- teraflop: yes, from a creative standpoint, current copyright law is far too rigid and restrictive, no arguments about that. but we're still liable...

- teraflop: yeah, and indeed, if you do any kind of festival larger than maybe 100 people or so, you have to pay fees to some copyright holder organization (GEMA in germany, don't know about other countries). and yes, even school festivals have to pay (whether this is enforced or not depends on the local representatives - i've seen both). the issue here is having it on servers for free download, since that actually counts as piracy if there's no legal license. whether you think it's stupid or not doesn't matter one bit, if you're in violation of the law and have some public visibility (as breakpoint does), you're a target. we've had a bunch of lawyers trying to shut BP down and start a police raid during the party in 2007, it wasn't fun. "it usually works out" is irrelevant here - yes, it usually does as long as you're small or obscure enough to pass under the radar, but that doesn't make it legal, and besides, BP isn't that small, whether you like it or not.

- FWIW, the corrupt sound stuff is fixed in kkapture 1.00. and no need to kkapture code.dll anymore.
