- demo Linux Windows obsoleet by Unreal Voodoo [web]
- Obsoleet is one for the crowds, no doubt about that. I disagree with some saying it's for gamers though, I don't think your average CS-playing gamerpartygoer appreciates retro one lousy bit. Most likely it was voted by sceners. While it was not the best demo of the party I find the win acceptable.
There have been other demoscene history demos but this is the best one and does it in an original way also extending to more than just demoscene history. Anyone who has grown up with computers can appreciate the effort, showing a person growing up and crude machines changing towards the more advanced is simply a brilliant idea. Had they not made her a female, much of the critique would be moot and close to none of the charm lost.
The old effects are made to look good and the historical inaccuracies forgivable. Transitioning thru multiple time periods to the very end where it is suggested that this whole demo has been a work of the same girl is nice.
Sometimes it's OK to be popular and still manage to create art. I'm sure the charm in this will last for a while, because it never rested on technical merit. - rulezadded on the 2008-06-14 23:47:22
- demo MS-Dos cncd vs. orange by Carillon & Cyberiad [web] & orange
- I don't know, I used not to get very excited over this when I watched it quite a while back. Maybe it's the fact that a cooperation here sounds like a dream or that this compared to other stuff by CNCD & Orange most of the other prods are even better. I can believe it's rushed because of that.
Still, it's a valiant effort done in style and a super soundtrack, even if the whole is a little bit unimaginative. I guess I'm not so allergic late 90's cookie cutter effects anymore either so that helps to see the beauty in this one. - rulezadded on the 2008-06-14 22:46:56
- demo Linux Windows Amiga PPC/RTG MacOSX PPC MacOSX Intel SGI/IRIX fit-039: Boy by Fit [web]
- Not really finished in design & composition, but having some social commentary does earn it points and the general style is nice. Jenny thinks is still the best Fit release for me. Not great, OK.

- demo PocketPC plutoniumia by aikarele
- Only code-wise interesting, possibly. Not too much to look at and quite slow on my iPaq 3630, guess it's supposed to be.
Anyway, it's the only Pocket PC thing that runs on my iPaq without a software upgrade so it was still fun to have a demo running on it. - sucksadded on the 2006-09-22 22:03:18
- demo MS-Dos Space flight by Starlight Productions
- Guess this is Starlight's best kept secret since they claim Virus to be their first demo. :P
Tries to compensate for lack of technological skill with humor but it gets old pretty soon since it's just the same sequence repeating over and over again with a little different message & planet color. - sucksadded on the 2006-08-17 00:11:12
- demo Amiga AGA Atari Falcon 030 Starstruck by The Black Lotus [web]
- I have to second psonice on this one. Starstruck feels really game-inspired. It also feels like at least two different-themed demos smashed together - one with a raven and another with robots.
Quite nice overall, I particularly loved the greets part and the message it sends but I don't really feel awed by this one and would've personally left starstruck out of the top-3 at asm06.

- demo Windows konplex:54 by fresh!mindworkz [web]
- Really good and caught me completely bu suprise since my only f!m demo experience was with parasite and that one wasn't much.
When first watching this I got some sort of a blurred grayscale version on this machine and only later noticed that the screenshots show colour. Apparently the 24bit mode has some issues at least on this hardware, I'm actually hoping the same issues are present because the demo is even better when it's like that. :) Anyone else experiencing similar things?
This is well designed, fairly minimal and has a lovely soundtrack. The video overlay is a nice touch and the effects clean looking & effective. One of those looking-into-the-great-emptyness demos. - rulezadded on the 2006-08-16 18:13:29
- demo Windows We Miss You by $
- Beautiful. It's exactly the length it should be, make it a little longer and it would start to wear on you. This shows how far a simple idea takes you. Are there any Amiga demos like that? (well, State of The Art could qualify I suppose)
Moody soundtrack and mellow & slightly noisy visuals. Many experimental demos are kind of irritating but this one's very calming. We've come a long way. - rulezadded on the 2006-08-16 16:45:49
- demo Windows YouDie by Ümlaüt Design [web]
- Pretty terrible. :P I have no love for the music or the colour choices and the rest is bad to mediocre.

- demo Windows Mindstammer by Razor 1911 [web]
- My favourite rzr demo. Objects are noticeably simple but this one sports a rocking soundtrack, lovely transitions and an unusually stylish execution of even the tried and true effects.
Nonsensical scene poetry as usual and these days the bouncing balls don't look too good, there's the short list of negatives from me, otherwise it's a great watch.
