Verifying SceneID?
category: offtopic [glöplog]
Question: Is there a way for webmasters of scene-related websites to verify via a PHP script that a given SceneID (i.e. the login to www.pouet.net) is valid and the entered password matches the SceneID? What I am looking for is something like a function "verify" which I can call via "if (verify ($SceneID, $pass)) { ... } else { ... }" in a PHP script.
This would make identity verification very efficient. Of course I am aware that the webmaster should not be allowed to store $pass permanently. I wouldn't do this - it would be against my personal honour code.

Huuh ?
Shouldn't the SceneID login should be handled on the scene.org severs, over SSL, and redirect to the appropriate success|error page on the site that initiated the login ?

1. Can it be done using http://sceneid.net/ and the library available at http://gitorious.org/lightopenid?
2. Is there an easier and/or more efficient way to do it?

p01: yes.
i had to giggle when i saw "personal honour code". :)
No Adok. SceneID is not possible to verify. Why would that even be useful?! THAT IS NOT AT ALL THE ENTIRE POINT WITH SCENEID.
Oh how I admire Adok's superior intelect.
OK, done. Thanks for the unnecessary comments.
Yeah, I agree. It was completely superfluous to point out that you're an idiot.
Are you sure you don't need my bank account number, King Mobutu the 3rd?
