"Gruppenzwang" demo
category: offtopic [glöplog]
There was an event at our university today in which various works of students of computer science were presented, including a demo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpDSpwn16RQ
"Realtime Graphics Demo made by my brother and me within the realtime rendering course at TU Vienna where it made the first place. Developed by Martin Knecht & Wolfgang Knecht."
What do you think about this demo?

If I was a real scener, I think I'd say "Welcome to the scene!" and I'd definitely thumb up a firstie like this one. Decent job, to say the least. Hope others will agree with me. Anyway, good job !
nice.. hope the makers add it to pouet!
nice stuff happening on the visual side but the music sucks really hard :D but it's always a matter of taste (=
binary please. the video quality is crap.
Have you looked at the upload date of the video? 2008. Move on, please... these guys already did.
no binary? no demo!
Wait... A thread started by Adok ? Mmmmkay...
Godwin's Law in 3...2...
I thought this topic was about gangbangs :/
You can tell these guys have seen kwl and asd demos. :)
I think is quite cool!
But this seems to be an old work, isn't? (Uploaded by wknechtYT on Oct 14, 2008)
Anyway, where are the binaries and full detailed credits?

What did I say?...

Today at my university we watched a low quality youtube video of an unreleased demo made 4 years ago. What do you think about this?
I think either your university sucks big time or you made the whole thing up, including the university, and you're actually a lonely unemployed bloke sat at home by a computer wishing you could make demos and go to parties and make friends and not be widely ridiculed.
2nd option seems to be more realistic.
If the demo exists then I would say that the Knecht brothers are already demosceners. There were some effects that were advanced even if it's a rendered video, like the head-strip-skull (I think, hard to tell with the quality...).
I would say if you get a degree by coding a demo, it's a university that rocks. :)

Nice to see there have been more of this kind.
http://www.cg.tuwien.ac.at/courses/Realtime/HallOfFame/rtr/greatest03/2tchess.zip - These two guys, Andreas Petersson and Florian Schüller, were pupils at the school I attended. They graduated 2 or 3 years before me. Florian is the brother of a classmate of mine. Andreas is pretty famous because he burned one of his exercise books at school before taking the graduation exams. The teachers organized a conference and wondered what they should do to him, but in the end they just let him graduate.
http://www.cg.tuwien.ac.at/courses/Realtime/HallOfFame/rtr/greatest03/2wurzer_1.zip - Matthias Grumet is actually related to the demoscene, he uses the handle "emzic" and hosts a mirror site of Hugi.
http://www.cg.tuwien.ac.at/courses/Realtime/HallOfFame/rtr/greatest03/2littlecrew.zip - This Adrian Gligor guy was also from my school.
http://www.cg.tuwien.ac.at/courses/Realtime/HallOfFame/rtr/greatest03/2gebena.zip - Andrea Weidlich is a familiar name since she's also a member of Mensa Austria.
http://www.cg.tuwien.ac.at/courses/Realtime/HallOfFame/rtr/greatest06/trailer.zip - I know this Andreas Monitzer from IRC.
http://www.cg.tuwien.ac.at/courses/Realtime/HallOfFame/rtr/greatest09/monsterloewenzahn.zip - I delivered a presentation about raytracing together with this Matthias Labschütz.
