So, uhm, anybody else?
sure, there is.. it's where it all began...
South Africa indeed, where the Zeitgeist is alive.
Rift #1 (South African demoscene diskmag) documents that there at least used to be demoscene activity in South Africa.
rawhed of faktory was the only south african scener i recall meeting (we even did a demo together back in 2002), don't know what he's been up to lately, haven't talked with him in ages.
Wasn't denthor of Asphyxia, VGA tutorials too?
Yes, Denthor of Asphyxia was South African.
i believe rawhed popped by on irc not long ago.. tho irc is dead :)
When I was a member of the Amiga group Quartz in the early 90s, they had a South African division for a while. I recall at least one of their members was a Danish expat though.
In 1992, Corial recieved a letter from a South-African scener who wanted to swap. The letter contained a quite long demo-list, including one of my productions :) (It was even a GFB demo, as far as I remember... was it Megademo 3 or so..)
There was a swapper in Cape Town, South Africa, named The Don of Hai. In the early days of Hugi my co-editor was in contact with him. I was told he had agreed to distribute Hugi in South Africa. Alas, I have never been in direct contact with him.
The Invisible Amoebas were from South Africa. Just found their demo "Black parity" too. Nice mod in it.
Gfbtm, really? I have completely forgotten that over the years, but I'm quite sure you are right. Mmm,1992, a(nother) nice scene year, even though it makes me sound old :)
There used to be a little Atari ST scene activity on Reunion, some of those guys are still around these days
Sulaco is South-African as well.
