My computer turns off randomly (boring technical difficulty)

category: general [glöplog]
it shouldn't if the PCI bus speed is locked.
the 8800GTS heats the whole system if you haven't got any Case Fans.

maximal cpu/gpu heat ?

post some screens via cpu-z and we can se if your config is ok

What other data could be interesting?

Max CPU/GPU heat observed is 45/60.

I'll reinstall Win 7 over the weekend and see what happens...
try to lower you v-core to 1.2. lower the fsb and raise the multiplier. do not go over 2.8 ghz.
get a case fan.

but that schould not be the promblem.. your gpu sucks up to 350W.so get a new PSU

the manual should say atleast 500w better 550w

you got some neat hws there, boy!

panic: Don't flatter, it's old :)

Relias, I can't get my multiplier over stock, making that a little hard. I can't get the FSB under 200 MHz, which is stock also... I can only go the other way!

I do have a case fan sitting right by the CPU sucking out air. I'm decently ventilated I think.

But as for the manual... shit, you are right, the case recomends 600W. So maybe it is a powersupply problem anyway. Money out the window :(
with you current power supply move the tab on the back turning it to the other voltage until it works correctly. i'd say you say you need a larger power supply as well.

I just installed my brothers 650W PSU, and it works now. Lesson learnt :P

Actually I was too fast about that statement, I still have loads of problems with that CPU. I've done following:

- Switched in a 650W PSU
- Re-installed Windows 7
- Swapped out ram blocks
- Made sure the GFX card is aptly powered

And yet I still get random (and forseeable...) shutdowns. One thing I notice is that I have a lot of current on my chasis - could it be that the lack of ground is fucking up my machine badly?
(And yet it still works perfectly with my 3800+, which turned out NOT to be an x2, oops...)

And yeah, I am at the latest BIOS, and my MSI K9N Ultra should support it according to MSI's website...
take your disk to another pc and run scandisk on it. perhaps it's plastered with bad blocks? :)

anyways, if i were you - i'd buy a new pc for 3.000 dkk :)
btw. have you tried using onboard gfx (if you have such)?
