music video interactive

category: general [glöplog]

it's not really a music video.. it's an album of /reactive/ music, that is that is aware and reacts to its environment

true, the video part is still missing, but the same "reactive" thing could be done with demoish realtime graphics as well i thought, so the interactive music video isn't too far way i guess... the new unifying format is coming :D

btw: something i've discoved lately by searching around http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BD-J, a new demo platform maybe... (probably nothing new for you anyway :)

hmm that BD-J sounds like a pretty fun demoplatform indeed. (i didn't know about it yet, i'm not much of a technophile)

probably not very challenging in terms of hardware, but well, soon in every living room, no :-)

especially if there's to be generative/random/slightly interactive content, it could really add a new flair to the realtime thing.

too bad it's java 1.3, which equals wrist-cutting in terms of fun, but it's a cool idea i guess!

yea, i like the idea too to play/run something in the living room. at the end it's just software (like this RjDj thing too, it's basically nothing new...), but for the common user it changes still a lot, i guess...

i've just tried to find out something about the specs for the player, such as cpu speed... but the only thing i've found so far is this:

Quote:
Some players are much faster than others; the BD spec does set some recommended
minimum performance levels, which helps.

or this: http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/javame/bluray/#3

it's called "bonus view" for some reason.. nice menus or simple decision based "movie games" can be made with it, but it's probably not there to generate more advanced audio/visuals.. still interesting :) i mean, there's enough space to store a huge amount of all sort of data to work with..

well, i haven't looked into it, but if in it you have access to high speed movie streaming, and if seeking isn't too bad, you can maybe do all kinds of cool things with short snippets of movie data. just for a start.

huh.. wikipedia even says that normal TV sets should be able to run java apps in the future. something called DVB-J MHP DJ /urgh:
Quote:
The MHP enables the reception and execution of interactive, Java-based applications on a TV-set.
hmmm... seems like i was not right up to date.. but i have no tv, blue ray or iphone anyway...who needs that? just computers at the end. but i still think these devices/standards will really push and businessify that kind of new interactive format i once meant..
