Geriatric nap rooms as a party feature?
Always-available sleeping hall like at Evoke? :) (Except there are always some asshats to inflate/deflate their mattresses with loud-as-fuck compressors, mindlessly let that door slam shut, or noisily pack/unpack their shit.)

I remember one Mekka/Symposium where the demo compo was split in two parts: first the better 20 or so demos, then the ‘rest’ afterwards in 2nd block. But that had a strange flavour, too.

It was Mekka/Symp in 2002. I was there.

It had the sleeping tent that trapped the heated air at the top, letting the freezing air in at sleeping bag level below.

Pretty sure it wasnt the "bad" demos that were shown in the second block though - we'd have killed the compo orgas if that was the case :o)

I wasn't there, but I was told that it was basically a preselection to not make PC the democompo unbearably long. And then someone decided the not-preselected demos would also be shown at some later point, so indeed, the “bad” ones later (and my understanding was that this was indeed very late).

Then this, from the second block, somehow won.

Yeah, I remember that, released a PC demo there - damn that was a long-ass time ago, and last minute (too late of course) got in the first batch. You stood no chance if you were in the second one whatsoever; not for ranking not for fame not even for people giving you the fair shake of watching it (guilty myself as well). I am all for moving it like a few hours at least back, gives both leeway for the inevitable (delay) and arriving at your hotel at 1AM is just, at 41 years of age, better than 3:30AM. Still I respect that Rev '23 for example kept it all together; it was a long ride, a fun one, but I paid the price the next morning.
