Or play/show pre-selected prods e.g. at night/in the morning at events that got the time slots anyway if the creator checks a "show in case of pre-selection" button when submitting. Not sure but the "issue" mostly seem to apply to music and maybe some gfx compos anyway. That way there would be more exposure of the work than with a non party release if desired :) Or if you get a notification on your submission page that your prod got pre-selected ... you do not need to look into it if you wanna stay curious.

Yea, what's the matter?
Demoparties are about demos. Music and gfx are lesser compos.
Simply make gfx and music for demos.
Surplus gfx and music can be used for slideshows and musicdisks.

How about an "online only" qualification round with all entries with some kind of yay or nay voting? Then the ones particularly interested in the music compos could vote forward the entries due for the final battle that is played for the entire hall.
