Merging together ZX Spectrum-compatible platforms
category: residue [glöplog]
Everyone is tired with this nonsense about splitting ZX Spectrum into several sub-platforms. At the same time, party organizers keep coming up with new and even more insane definitions of ZX Spectrum compatibility. So I have a suggestion. Since it does not seem possible to split ZX Spectrum into several platforms, instead, why don't we just merge everything even remotely ZX Spectrum-compatible into one large and extremely hardware-tolerant platform?
As the initial step of the merger I suggest we merge all SAM Coupe demos into ZX Spectrum. After all, SAM was released before 1993, uses discrete logic, is not overly powerful (ATM2 clearly beats it feature-wise) and is fairly compatible with 48K spectrum.
In the future, we should also merge into ZX Spectum category all DOS, Atatri ST and Amiga demos, since all of these platforms seem capable, in principle, of playing back ZX Spectrum demos and were released pre-1993. Once the process is complete, we will all become an extremely happy community of ZX Spectrum demo-makers.

I'm working on a solution, more on this later.
@Gargaj, please do not take too seriously. It is clearly not Pouet's fault.
I'm still working on a solution. There's obviously a problem here, as far as I understand there's notable differences between a stock ZX and e.g. a PentEvo, so there must be something done about it. I have a solution and a test-implementation, as soon as I've discussed it with the gloperators we can start working on finalizing it.
@Gargaj, we are waiting for this event and hope to end the war of clones in favor of a larger number of products on the demoscene!
I hope Gargaj found wise solution. Some flamewars are annoying..
You can remove the "some": I stopped watching ZX prods comments already some time ago... between the messages in Cyrilic, the ripping accusations, the personal insults, the category discussions about if this or that is or is not a ZX, it's at best annoying and at worse make me want to stop to watch anything with the words ZX or Spectrum in it.
+1 for sam coupe merge, it is well known fact that sam coupe is next real spectrum there is.
@Dbug, oh, thanks, it is my mistake. I watched a lot of Oric graphics when I was working on multicolour designs for ZX Spectrum, so we definitely should consider merging Oric into ZX Spectrum as well.
On a more serious note, I fully agree with everything you said. I very much hope that Gargaj's solution will sort the issue out, at least here on Pouet.

Merge 6502(Oric) and ZX(z80)? LoooL.
About Sam Coupe - I am not sure about merging, just count how many prods on SAM?

introspec, please, send to Gargay ALL need info about all wild zx.
VBI, this is a joke thread. Please act responsibly!
introspect: I was answering to g0blinish about the "'some' flamewars are annoying :)
introspec, this joke contain of 50% joke ;)
Don't forget to merge any machine which can run BASIC code as well.
Don't forget to get a life.
Come on, no need to ask for impossible, Sir :)
