Farmfest 2009!
category: general [glöplog]
yahooooo there's free blowjobs being handed out IN THE BARN
I'll meat you in the toilets!
FARFAAAAAAARMFEEEEEEEEST
The party is very cozy. The location is awesome. Last night I fell asleep outside while it was raining (it was a covered area, though), and it still did when I woke up. Very very cozy.
Spent the morning chit-chatting with Rambones, and right now we just had freshly baked rolls that were awesome.

Thanks for a good party btw, I had a lot of fun :)
Thanks for coming, farfar, and the rest of you. It was a really nice couple of days. As I said to bstrr earlier, I couldn't imagine spending the weekend with a nicer group of people.
Hopefully everything went well. I cocked up on the compo organising part, big time. The more I was trying to fix my error, the more I was cocking up and the more I was getting stressed. Editing all the xml files for the compo slide program through a slow vnc connection to the server box I was running was an absolute nightmare. I spent very little time organising the compos, and focused my time on other, less important things. Although had I got the uploading/voting system all finished, I would have had everything automated - Uploading, xml file building for the projector, votekey generation, voting and points. Next year, I plan to work my ass off on this part and have it absolutely spot on.
The only problem I found was the tiled flooring in the toilet/shower area. Because of the wet shoes from the rain, I was having to clean the muddy prints off the floor every 30 minutes but soon got tired of it, because me mopping the floor was making it wet and it wasn't drying before the next person. Essentially, I was just feeding the fire more fuel. Oh well.
If any of you have the time and are willing to give me some feedback, please fire an email to me at malodix.pcl[at]gmail.com. Feel free to tell me EXACTLY how you felt about some parts. What you liked, what you disliked, what was done well, what was done poorly, etc. This would be much appreciated and I can use the feedback to improve upon for next year. Please tell me honestly.
@nic0: Thanks for the party report. I've noted the comments about the compo organising. I sucked at that big time. I know where I went wrong with it, so like I said above, it'll all be sorted out for next year. :)
A few highlights for me where (in no order):
- Seeing rambones' "E.T" tent after the wind had had it's way with it. It looked like there was a TV arial sticking out the top because of the snapped poles.
- One of the large poles for the big tent at the lounging area falling down whilst rambones was sleeping on a sofa and the network cable hanging just above him stopping the pole from smacking him in the face. This happened not once to him, but twice! Lucky guy.
- Seeing nic0 jump into the pool and the others pull a screwed up face because of getting splashed.
- Seeing the dog 'accident' just before everyone arrived. I was in nots of laughter at this.
- Graga and myself playing ring of fire until 6am and having to shout "Jan!" every time we had to drink. Sadly for Jan, he was trying to sleep.
Thanks to all that came. The place is so empty without you. Come back!
Thanks to captain 'composaver' Denmark for being a top sport and giving some really nice entries.
Thanks to everyone that did their little share when it came to tidying up, etc.
Thanks to Puryx for doing that track after me nagging him all the time.
Thanks to rambones for doing his 2 hour set. It rocked.
Thanks to cheesy for making me laugh while watching cakefarts, because of his laugh.
Thanks to the ever helpful Alpha_C for coding the slide program which server us well. I owe you one.
Thanks to m0d and silverlance (yes, again) for their excellent help during promotion. You guys are the best!
Fucking to each and everyone of you - Hannibal has been spending the whole day wandering around the big tent meowing like crazy. He absolutely will not shut up. He misses you guys so much, as do I.
Hopefully we can do more or less the same thing, on a bigger, better scale. See you next year!

Great party writeup from nic0!
Great party writeup from nic0!
malodix: overall I thought it was great! I also think it's a bit of a big mouthful to be organizing a party without a lot of help with the organizing, so I take my pants off for that!
good stuff:
- chilling + sleeping in the sofas outside
- the pool (!)
- salad + taters supplied for the BBQ
- (cheap!) snacks & drinks bar open pretty much around the clock
- sitting in leather furniture around a fire in the garden
- the fun-compo :)
- friendly animals wandering around
- the laid-back atmosphere, I hope the farm inhabitants were satisfied with the way we behaved :)
- freshly baked bread in the morning, awesome!
- it was good to have plenty of time to finish prods after arriving at the party!
- fast internet, plenty of power cables, nice big screen + projector setup ... good infrastructure in general!
not so good stuff:
- the compos, but you already know that :)
.. apart from that, I can't think of any negative stuff.

truth be told i was absolutely in shambles when i wrote the report so it might be 100% rambling :)
i did have a whale of a time tho :)

to be honest i didn't really know what to expect prior to arriving at the farm. when i visit parties i usually stay at a quiet hotel in a cozy bed and shower every morning. when arriving at farmfest it became apparent, that this was going to be a different kind of experience. it turned out to be a good one!
the hosts (esp. malodix) seemed very keen to make this a positive experience and worked hard to make it so - and succeeded.
i spent most of my time installing dev tools and working on the infamous demo, but whenever i needed to interact with the world around me malodix or zyps were there to help. thumbs up for that! :D
malodix, please say hello to hannibal and let him know, that it was a very real experience to sleep outside in the lounge-area and waking up while he was peeing in the sand next to my mattress :)
(maybe this is a good time to point out, that hannibal is a kitten and NOT the coder from anarchy! :D)
