Coders: How do you stay sharp in the everyday?
category: offtopic [glöplog]
las: Engage landing wheels, get beer.
Graga: There is no way in hell I will install a new browser plugin. Care to make a version using something a bit... less danish? ;)
Graga: this doesn't look right (Chrome, Unity Web Player, OSX):
Yeah Graga, please change engine ASAP so Slummy doesn't have to install anything.
gloom: try to fullscreen.
gloom: You on Mac or Linux?
I gave some feedback. A nice idea but the game is buggy as hell.

You are approaching the problem from the wrong premise. The aim should not be what you can do to "stay sharp in your job", it should be "what can I do to get out of my job ASAP"
The tough part is figuring out which ventricle of this "money system" you need to tap in order to make it bleed profusely...if only for a short period. Collect it all in a bucket and then run! Run and never be seen again.
Alternatively, you can spend the rest of your life working a 9-5 and die prematurely from stress - trying to make someone else (who HAS the right idea) rich.

button++
button &= 0xff80;
@button: Undoubtably that strategy works for some people. As far as I am concerned, it goes against my ethics as I don't like to make ppl bleed. I don't need "bling" anyways plus I do like to work.
However, I refuse to be a 9-5 slave and rather commit part of my resources to non-profit projects after devoting the other part to "the industry" (which, after all, makes nice things that can
probably only be accomplished in massive joint efforts, fueled by money)

I'm wondering if button has ever run a business.
For some of us "bleeding the ventricle" can sometimes be a gushing artery, other times it can be a weakly fluttering vein. Anyone else who promises you endless money from get rich-quick schemes is doing just that - fleecing you of your money.
For the most part for me personally, my business provides my "bread & butter" - as in it keeps us clothed & fed.
Having a 9-5 can usually give you some financial freedom when times are good and a guaranteed mortgage payment when times are tough for the business.
Also the 9-5 for me has fuck-all to do with computers (apart from the paperwork) and keeps me busy and moving - a no brainer really.
My 2c.

With this convolution matrix...
LOL.
You all make me laugh when you say it's hard to work from 9am to 5pm and have a life. In France in small companies it's quite usual to work from 8:30am to 6pm.
Sometimes it happens to me to work until 3am, clearly when we screwed up with the plannings, but anyway, 9-5 is a dream job in France.

35 hours max in france so you are doing something wrong!
35hrs is what the government aims for, but in what we call "The real world", it's not possible for every companies, especially the smallest ones (< 20 people). So many (most, actually) of french people work 39hrs (4hrs are payed 125%), and, again especially in smal companies, when work has to be done, unless you want your company to go bankrupt, well, you stay at work until the work is actually done.
*That* is the real world.

I'll kill for 35hours a week.
Here in spanishtan you must work 40h/week, with 1h to 3h wasted in the middle, this means you usually work 9-13 16-20 each day. I'm "lucky" because I work 8h non stop.
