Girlfriend vs. scene
category: general [glöplog]
Preacher, yes, and it will get my very first cdc when I get it. This is gonna be terribly gay, but that demo made me drop some tears few times. Ok, stop it.
My experience is: my exgirlfirned liked fr-25 (for the dancing guy I guess), variform (this was induced I suppose), fr-08 (for the music synth), and ASD stuff.
About going to partys; take care, if she not only doesn't forbid you to go, but she's even pushes with you to do so, but never joins you on the experience... then it might be a bad sign (unless you have a solid relationship).

shit, I wrote even worse than I usually do, I must go to sleep. Now.
my best experiences with girls and the scene is:
one of my past gf the first time i told her about the scene she roughly shut my "lets go to a party" with a simple and incredible "i absolutely don't want to have any kind of business with a bunch of nerdy cult followers". approximatively two months later i left her for this and lot of other (more valuable) reasons.
otherwise, my actual (...) gf had quite a good interest in the scene after i told her what i was doing\watching\going, she asked me to go to a party (horde07), she asked me to explain the basis (the story, the motivation, all that crap, you know) of the scene, she asked me to show her some good gems, to explain how it was done, she even managed to understand a couple of techy stuff! a pity that she probably don't like salmiakki, but who cares :)

Ah, this turns into a thread of "Anonymous Liquid Wen Adorers"! But I'm with you, guys. As already stated, my gf loves it and, of course, I love watching it with her! Vic's hymnic track in the second part is just too good! Don't know why a lot of people seem to hate it...!?? Is it because it won against Moppi and Kewlers??
Ok, just seen Liquid Wen for the first time.
Lots of complex objects, all spiining and twirling.
Mood-setting music.
Lots of the same shit happening all over again.
Meh...
Not for me, but she might like it, yes.

My girlfriend visited a party once in the 90s thanks to her then-boyfriend, who was a scener (surprise). When the subject came up, I think her exact words were "never again". I don't blame her. :)
While she doesn't have any interest in it, the best part of this is that I don't have to be the one trying to explain this weird and obscure hobby of ours to her. Someone else has already done the dirty work. ;) To be perfectly honest, the other weekend she did the job of describing demos to a complete layman a LOT better than I could..

I liked Shifter better when he had a ponytail.
Dude, if you suck a mean dick I might grow it back for compensation!
Seriously, fuckings to that hair. It was obtrusive, cumbersome and definitely not there because *I* liked it. Once the person who it was for turned out the be the utter lack of intrinsic value I somewhat suspected her to be, that shit was *gone*. Good fucking riddance. and okkie is RIGHT.
You had a ponytail, just for a girl?!
I prefer the term sad manipulative compulsive liar, but yes.
Seems like we all give up stuff to please our girlfriends. Some more than other.

Never tried, so I wouldn't know about that.
However, I'm pretty sure some of the guys in ORB will be more than happy to help you with that.
never get a girlfriend who's a scener, and never make your girlfriend one. seriously. don't go there.
Too late for me.
For me, the scene is a big part of my life, and it would be strange not to share it with the person I love.. I am happy that she's really enthusiastic and interested in it.
You are killing independent george!
xernobyl and GbND: Thanks, I'll consider that ;)
swapping :D
indeed is liquid wen 2nd part such a blast 8)
I second Reed 100% on this subject.
Been there, done that - and I will never do that again! (doesn't mean that one should not tell your girlfriend about what you're doing in the scene at all of course)

Scene is also a huge part of my life...more than a hobby, but my girlfriend dislikes it when I visit demoparties.
Well. We're together almost 9 years and I think she accepted this won't change. Nevertheless she's not really interested in the scene and neither do I think she would like the "mood" at a demoparty. She sleeps well in silent rooms...I sleep well with chillout-mucke under a table. ;-)
She though likes or at least admires our demos and what we (Nuance, demoscene, etc.) are creating, because she somehow knows we're doing something special that not everyone can do...even if I tend to paint compo-pictures or do demo-designs containing some boobs. :D
Sometimes it's sad...but quitting the scene because of that? No way'n'never.
...and well...I quite like "Liquid...Wen".

Im allowed to go to one party a year :)
better than nothing... the most horrible time is before the party when I spend all my evening trying to finish a prod.

Hmm.. it's funny, 50 years ago no man would openly admit to this sort of sensitivity, much less let his wife or girlfriend run his life. He would look insecure and feeble to other men. They would laugh and make jokes about his masculinity. I wonder what's changed since then. Oh, that's right... NOTHING!
FFS!
FFS!
Nytrik : "Im allowed to go to one party a year :)"
All in all, I'm not surprised... :)

Indeed. Seriously. Do you ask permission to go to a bar as well? Or a toilet?
Preacher : Ok we will discuss about it when you have kids :)
