The only viable options *today* seem to be renoise (which is slowly approaching "feature creep" status) and reViSiT (which wasn't working at all, last time I tried it with Ableton Live).

As for "back in the day": FT2 and Amusic.

for me, whenever it's about music, it's renoise.

@xrs
why 20% logic? is it a certain genre you prefer the piano roll for or is it the lack of a proper sequencer in renoise that makes you switch for more complex projects?

Ah, forgot to mention psycle also. Shame development is going so slowly.

Only one person named BUZZ. I'm not a musician but I like buzz, and the development is going great now.

trackers used in the past:

On Amiga: DOCtracker, Startrekker, Protracker (1991-2000)
On PC: Fasttracker2 (1995-2004), (Skale and MPT on XP until Milkytracker came)

today:
100% RENOISE (just payed my license upgrade today)
(using Renoise since 2004)

...using anything else than a tracker for making music....I failed

I guess Impulse Tracker is still the best in my memories, though I really wouldn't want to use it anymore ;)

I guess I have to go for Renoise. I don't really use anything else nowadays.
