Any scener ever been a part of the eurovision song contest in any way?

And one of the "postcard" intros that year showed Assembly, so presumably someone on the asm org team must have been involved in providing that footage...
well we had adok this year:
At least the Greek scene should be proud for the BEST EUROVISION SONG EVER

Gasman, it was a professional shoot done by the national broadcasting company, so we weren't really involved in it apart from actually putting up the party and letting them in =).
I sat in a radio commentary box and scene radio commentary to the wild compo at assembly with evilpaul, the year that Eurovision was hosted at Hartwall Arena. It was possibly the same box that Terry Wogan used during eurovision. It's really hot and stuffy in there, and the only source of air is a pipe in the roof. Evilpaul farted.
i doubt evilpaul's farts would smell as bad as terry wogan's tho :)
i must say that some of the animations today in the eurovision finals did have a lot of similarities to debris by farbrausch. :)
getting back at it, and talking to my gf about it - i found the inbetween-trailers or how you may call em quite demoscene-like. been wondering who was responsible for those.
right, nosfe beat me to it. :) didn't quite think of farbrausch though.
well, those streams of cubes/letters floating around the city and forming big words in the opening animation of the whole show...
We enjoyed tonight show. Thank you very much Russia and Europe for letting us be a part of this great friendship and history making. This will give us hope back to mankind.
I also made an immediate mental association to Debris
Same here. The camera-movement and lighting was very similar. Like they say in russia, RIPOFF!
I know someone who has worked with Alex several times, the winner of this year's Eurovision... does that count? hihi.
hm... btw. FUCKINGS TO THE DANISH DRAMA QUEEN!!!
what about him? :)
eurovision, final... hund!
The trailers looked quite demoscenish indeed. However, I didn't think about debris or Farbrausch at all ... to me, it seemed more like Fairlight (and Halfsome in particular).
i guess that the people who didnt think about debris are talking about the trailers between the songs, not the thing in the beginning of the whole show?
well we fucked up a webvoting for the eurovision qualifier in ******* back in 2005 if that counts. Wrong guy won! =)
yea the things looks very much demoscenics
Urgend tipp: Watch the song contest tonight, the greatest "wild music/performance/animation" compo on earth.
Germany has pulled all forces together to put up the greatest show on earth for one night. I watched the semi finals and all I can say that the whole multimedia presentation hasnt be more "demoscenish" than this year. Each video animation for the songs is carefully crafted and all could count as "demoscenish video", the arena is one big projection area for the video/light effects.
You will also notice how carefully the intermission films showing sights from Germany are crafted, because they dont show postcard images only, they show the people from the various nations and cultures of the contest explore Germany or how they live and work here.
I am very proud of this show, because the ones responsable for this have put all their love and creativity into this - much like the people of demoscene put their love and creativity in their productions. This years ESC will look more demoscenish than ever! ;))

I know one of the guys who worked on the Norweigian production entry from last year (or was it before that? I can't remember, it was the boy/girl love story one or something). Incidentally, I knew him through a completely unrelated hobby - its someone I met on the airwaves, he's an enthusiastic amateur radio operator in his spare time.
salinga: Dude that's gay.
I was about to say... this is asking "who of us is gay" except that I'd fully understand that most gays feel offended when people assume they like the Eurovision songcontest.
