It's not that you're forced to buy anything, besides. A price is just that, a price.

As for the "overpriced" argument, well, supply and demand.

If you've ever bought perfume for any significant other, if you've ever bought a piece of clothing, then you've been paying for material that is very, very cheap to produce. The price's all in the design and marketing. If you are that offended by the prices above, then you ought to be offended by the WHOLE FUCKING CULTURE you live in and consider disemboweling yourself.

I AM fucking offended by the whole culture that i live in, ashamed of it, sick and tired of it, and i was thinking more of disemboweling it, rather than me. Just like the whole culture thinks, "rather them than me", so do i pieface.

i suppose most of the people who find the price offensive arent about to go to a gallery and spend 10 grand on a piece of modern art either.

why not make your own. its fairly easy. take a piece of paper and draw random lines on it, then sign it with an unreadable name. Presto, you just saved 10 grand.

I know a very famed painter on these parts, i know how he makes his images, and he is laughing at his costumers. The guy uses a vacuum cleaner, put it on "blow" mode, and then just randomly spill water paint on the canvas and blow it about. i have been to an opening of his and heard snobs talk about the "thought", "the process", the blahblahblah put into these works. No fou stupid fuck, it was random and it took 4 minutes from start to finnish, thatll be 10 grand thank you!

ghah, our civilisation is a degenerate

i completely agree with everything you said there, but fail to see how that makes our civilisation a degenerate. stronger yet, i think that stuff like this (and Hackers) makes our civilisation super cool!

what i mean is, can't you just go with that painter to a bar and laugh at his customers, over a beer, *together*?

i also dont see why i should find $125 acceptable just because there are other things similarly overpriced in our culture. i similarly boycott from use anything non-essential that i believe to lack value. just because we have to live in a capitalist society doesnt mean i should be forced to accept its excesses or kill myself.
i refuse to consume pretentious things and i find it offensive that people ask for commodoties more than they're clearly worth in a clear attempt to fool those who dont know any better or consider themselfs more morally advanced for carefree consuming pretentiously priced items.
if you enjoy paying for your superior consumer status by all means knock yourself out, it's your money, but i shall still find the price offensive for the value it's claiming to possess.

bottomline is: things are only valued when someone is actually willing to pay for it that ammount. i could put a 1000e price on a paper i sketched, that still wont change the fact that lordgraga got one for free. if someone actually buys it for 1000e that would be great for me but i still wouldnt possibly be able to tell that person he made a good deal since the piece will never be worth that much to me. for that reason i see other people who overprice their creations as pretentious sellouts. if they actually believe their software art is worth $125 in 5000 limited editions than aditionaly to being pretentious sellouts they're dilusional from reality for spending too much time on the prostate massage art circuit.

but perhaps you're right and i'm just morally incapable of placing economical value on a creative piece.

Crooks and scammers aren't specific to capitalism.
Crooks and scammers aren't specific to western civilisation.
Crooks and scammers aren't specific to mankind.
Crooks and scammers aren't even specific to mammals.

come to think of it, i'll file a motion to alter scene.org for flatrate access fee to the demos in the archive, minor percentage for the artist based on download counts and the rest for the hard working curators of the archive. defnitly.

hehe, thats excactly what we do. But the mentality that drives it is degenerate, and it is ever present. More and more we allow ourself to fall vitims to what is nothing but deceit and build whole lifes upon it at the expense of everybody. But heres the catch, i loathe it but i do nothing to prevent it. I belive in free choice, free will and ultimate personal freedom so obviously they are free to be superficial numbnuts prone to peer pressure all they want to, and im free to laugh, point fingers and call them nasty names for it.
