Pouët should have a group chat.
category: general [glöplog]
I was even bored of irc back in the times. It was casual talk rather than technical talk. I prefer web forums.
Also, from modern stuff, reddit is for special interests which is cool but I don't visit as much as I should, youtube is my favorite, twitter is brain farts, I hate it but I am there sometimes, easy to read little stuff when at lunch.

Anyway.

oneliner ought to be enough for anybody
### Chat via illegal telepathy ### should be enough for everybody
the groupchat is only included for POUET EXTRA GOLD ACCOUNT PREMIUM members
no glops allowed
why doesnt anybody release a prod on all platforms that includes a p2p chat function. problem solved.
scenepoints accepted!

all platforms? does it include the subduvuded Russian zx spectrums platforms too?
it should work even on c64. no exceptions.
well, how about that new fad called twitter?
There's even a C64-client for that: Breadbox64 (CSDB-Link, since original website seems to have problems right now)

Twitter has no proper group creation.
The real group chat is outside (around the bonfire)
As a newbie I think a place for newbie discussion would be nice. #revision or this forum don't feel like the right place to spam mundane questions.
As for the medium, it's most important there are people to talk with. While I'd like to see an open network like Matrix succeed (or IRC to be revitalized) the popularity of Slack and Discord make them hard to dismiss.

It totally should feel like it, I think there's plenty of people who would love to help.
Yeah and there are also alot of funny lessons in being ridiculed along the road!
Congratulations, you´ve just found the pouet groupchat!
FYI a demoscene slack was created in early 2016.
~80 people are on it but it's a ghost town.
I guess sceners prefer IRC in the end.
Also there are probably a few dozens of private slack/discord of groups out there.
I'm surprised there is no more interest in a public Discord.
Well let's see actually: DEMOSCENE DISCORD

Yay, let’s have more discord servers! Like this demoscene discord server; it even has a #pouet channel!
24/7 31337 BBS ftw, hackin phreakin wardial warez :)
Good times.
Good times.

Yeah! That works wonders. Very happy with it.and there's always IRCCloud as a halfway house if you feel like Discordifying IRC.
I've opted to self-host The Lounge for a few months now and it's been a great solution for me, especially because I switch between mac, PC and mobile Safari all the time. With The Lounge I can just use the same interface on all of them, and upload and link to images that I host on my Linode server.
in all fairness i think Pouet doesn't really need an other channel of live communication, however, i think it could do well with a PM function. I believe it's not there either due to lack of general interest, lack of development time/power or perhaps it was just simply deemed unnecessary. but pretty sure people would reach out and collaborate even more if it was there. saying this since not many people fill their contact info on their Pouet bio.
and i'm pretty sure it's been discussed lot of times earlier so i might be beating a dead horse here (damn, its belly has great sub)

Neither; the idea was proposed for SceneID for a messaging system that is cross-site (i.e. you can message someone on Pouet and they can read it on Demozoo and so on) but the issue was general privacy/security as well as some convenience questions.

In my opinion this idea - albeit nice - is a bit too overcomplicated.
I could see it working as a Pouet-only thing, if someone writes to you you authorize it first ("XY wrote a message to you. Accept?").
