Can someone tell me the name of this demo?
category: offtopic [glöplog]
A long while back I watched a pretty silly demo with a bouncing snowman. The snowman bounced up and down a staircase and then was crushed by a falling anvil. Now I'm really annoyed because I can't find it again because I can't remember the name of the demo. Does anyone know the demo I'm trying to find?
I think you mean Schniiimpuffel
Thanks, D.Fox. Not the most gleaming gem to be found on pouet, but I just had to find it anyway.
It's one of those demos that breaks up the monotony of the compo :D (Or enlengthens it, depending on where you stand :)
May a turn this thread into a "Random what was this demo again" thread? :)
Years ago, like 2002 or 2003 I think, I saw a glitch demo that was consisting of some cylindrical object changing it's shape over noises.
Anyone knows what demo this is?

(and this is where tagging prods and searching by tags and dates would come handy)
It sounds a bit like Pornonoise
It might be a good idea to create a database of verbal descriptions of demos. Then people could search for keywords and easily find the demos they were looking for.
Tag clouds of demo tropes could be fun, but there's no common terminology everyone would agree with (besides fairly boring classics, such as: the 3ds duck of doom, the dutch color scheme will blind your children's eyes, the terrible first prod, texture mapping is not an effect, ribbons - when you really don't want to think about design etc. :P).
Adok: i created lists.php for that a few years back, you can ask a gloperator to create lists for you as a regular user to admin. then the idea was to convert it on v2.0 of pouet to make it more versatile and include the description tag lines from solo2, but sadly i had enough of handling pouet by then, and gargaj is only one man with many tasks.

Well... seems that a well known user tried to complete that task until he was banned look at this.
:]
lol

ham: http://www.pouet.net/solo2_tagcloud.php *cough* :)
i'll do this later.
tags: #cube (99% of demos)
I tried searching for Schniiimpuffel on my own before starting this topic and what actually occurred to me rather then textual tags is that it would have been very useful to request from pouet a large grid of thumbnail images.
Even just being able to look on a single page at a large selection of the posted screenshots would be helpful in some cases. Going further than that, perhaps the site could somehow associate similar-looking screenshots and maybe allow a user to home in on the demo they are thinking of.

Now that SceneID2.0 is out there, Pouet 2.0 will resume after Revision, and will hopefully launch in the summer.
@dfox, Gargaj: none of them unfortunately. Glitch is the closest in the feeling. From what I remember, the shape was much much cylindrical and there was less light (if any), but the feeling is similar: gray object on a dark background, glitch noises, and the object would spread apart, transform into rings, etc.
@tomaes: what's the problem really? tags are robust way to deal with those issues. And most sceners agree on the meaning of cube, vector cube, torus, glitch, twister, scroller, particles, raymarching, etc.

I was talking about tropes, not plain effect descriptions.

Yes! That's it, thank you!!
So that thing was not a demo after all?

Nope, that was the video that all demos tried to miiatate afterwards. :)
