a Symbol for Future
category: residue [glöplog]
Hi there,
I wanted to ask around, what do you think is the best Symbol for "the Future".
It should be something you can take a picture of... Cities? Long Blending Times and watching traffic? something else?
I'm curious about your opinion...
Cheers,

"If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face - forever." -- George Orwell
Make a demo with hurricanes, raised sea levels, poisoned environments, earthquakes, tsunamis, and cities of millions living in extreme poverty. I'm sure it's going to be a good demo.
Hope.
Maybe I should add:
in a positive way...
if I want it to be negative, I could take a LOT of pictures in Frankfurt, Germany ;-)

Newlyborn children is pretty much the universal symbol for hope in the future, non?
So in essence: A pregnant woman on top of a garbage-dump with a tsunami approaching in the distance ...
The future: anything shiny, blue and vague.

FeN: Define "positive".

Define "positive"
Degrowth (in French: décroissance,[1] in Spanish: decrecimiento, in Italian: decrescita) is a political, economic, and social movement based on environmentalist, anti-consumerist and anti-capitalist ideas. Degrowth thinkers and activists advocate for the downscaling of production and consumption—the contraction of economies—as overconsumption lies at the root of long term environmental issues and social inequalities. Key to the concept of degrowth is that reducing consumption does not require individual martyring and a decrease in well-being. Rather, 'degrowthists' aim to maximize happiness and well-being through non-consumptive means—sharing work, consuming less, while devoting more time to art, music, family, culture and community. krabob: That wasn't a definition av "positive"... It was more a definition of "my idea of an utopia". :)
positive like "a symbol for a world turning better, greener and nicer" but in a realistic way... thats why I search for photos not paintings...
Like your avatar ;-)
Considering resource depletion amongst a lot of other stuffs like the many ecologic problems due to our way of life, like holocene extinction , etc , Degrowth is truly the only "positive future" you can think about. Else is death.
