Help with my very first shader program

category: general [glöplog]
I've just done my very first pixel shader program.

It is DX9, shader model 3.

My graphics card is a very very shitty one, and the speed of the code is about 3-4 times slower than in my dual core CPU rendering.

So, could you try the code in your computers and tell me the framerate and the card you used? This would help me to see if it is worth to invest in a graphic card and wich one to choose.

The code is here: http://www.romancortes.com/ficheros/shader.zip

Thanks so much

Thanks so much, I have enough data. I think I'm going to buy a gts250, it is cheap and there is stock near my house... and it looks very fast by the Premium data.

Iq: it says "fallo" if the pixel shader can not be compiled... the why not in your card, I have no idea... I might send you the source, that is based in your framework, so you can tell me what I did wrong...

if the pixel shader doesn't compile the bug is in the shader, not in the framework I guess. I bet on my drivers...

1276-2645 on ATI 4850(9.5 drivers, so not the latest)...and this is on my bogged down test XP installation and not my barebones fast demo/games one...you other ATI guys must have some serious bloated crap running in the background on yours ;p

Newest drivers and DX runtime did the trick.

I get around 1300 - 3000 FPS.

d3dx9_42.dll already ?
dumb question then: can i just upgrade the SDK somehow or do i have to completely reinstall a whole package ?
dont want to just download/copy any .dll downloaded wherever, even if its "safe" !

oh, nevermind, having newest SDK is best solution anyway, so imma just download the package and install now !
hmmm strange that the gtx 285 shows lower framerate than the slower gts250..... me uses win7 64bit, intel c2d e8400 @3ghz 4gb ram
