have you received your cashprize yet?

We, keyboarders, got our hardware within a resonable timeframe. Several months after we received 70% of the cashprize, told that 30% was withdrawn as tax. Since us (norweigan citizens) paying tax in the US is utterly bullshit, we was told that they would invesitigate further and pay the withdrawn amount. That was nice to hear, but we have not heard anything for a very long time (since easter).

So, im wondering, are we the only ones?

We received our hardware straight away as well, but we've not yet seen any single cent of the prize money :( (4k, second rank - $1000 as far as I remember)

Of course we hope to get the money - they will be used for visiting/arranging more demo-scene parties!

Quisten: it took us more than 7 seven months sending emails relentlessly to have the issue sorted out. Good luck.

They usually don't answer emails unless you send them 3 or 4 times spread over a few weeks, keep that in mind if you want results ;)

the Nvidia prizes seem to wrong often don't they?

Temis contacted us to say that giant bureaucratic crabs were preventing them from going through, and that he was going to switch out weapons in real time and hit them for massive damage.
Meaning... we re-faxed him the forms and should get our prize sent to us.

Don't get me started on the fact that we only got our demobox parts the day before hitting the road to go to nVision.

I heard the outreach people got a tour bus as compensation from nvidia.

they should have the contacts within Nvidia to get this high on an agenda somewhere within Nvidia (crisis or no crisis)

Guys - I had received word from our admins that all payments except one (for some esoteric international tax reason) - had been fulfilled. I'm pretty shocked to hear this. I will get in touch with all of you via email and re-check with each of you to make sure we close this out.

Sorry for the trouble, it's frankly been ridiculous.

Don't get me started on the fact that absolutely nobody in that mail-me-free-stuff program actually needed this to actually make the entry they submitted and we all walk away feeling like winners, heroes ...or potentially cheap whores.

Maybe this is due to the entries being made for the compo was subject to work on the demo-box setup. (thus not having the (promised) box, it would quite hard testing the production on it)

In case you actually care, I was not snubbing the fact that you people weren't being paid off in full as you were supposed to be. That's just wrong.

What I was referring to was the indignant bullshit spewed by people who got free shit, late in the game as it may have been, yet continue to complain about it as if they actually were impacted by not getting said swag at their leisure. Nvscene was not a surprise coding compo and this was not an esoteric platform. People had plenty of time and besides you didn't need their kit to enter the compo.

Besides, in the 15 years I've been wandering about demo parties I have yet to find a PC demo compo where there are no "fuck it, I don't have the horsepower ...but the compo machine does!" entries, so the whole careful evaluation never applies. Add the fact that the demokits were incomplete computers and could be supplied with whatever oddball shit during development, that whole reference hardware theory is bullshit.

if i remember what i've been told. demos are not about money. but, i hope you guys get what you earned. i wouldn't like it if i didn't recieve a paycheck for going to my job. fight the power!
