I never ³ º thought I could actually produce enough effects for a whole demo. I really ³ º got involved in coding after I heard about the fantastic demo party in ³ º Adelaide. ³ º ³ º The 3D system was started on the Easter holidays and the rest was coded ³ º mostly during the three weeks before the Coven party. As with our previous ³ º production the effects were combined in a real hurry, four days before the ³ º competition. That might be the reason why the demo wasn't properly synced ³ º during the compo (a whole effect wasn't shown!). ³ º ³ º This is the official release. If you have seen the Party version you ³ º will notice some changes. I have added a font system and in some effects ³ º completely remade the graphics which were also rushed. The Mr.Bean rotozoom³ º had a bug which prevented it from displaying itself in the party release. ³ º This is hopefully fixed now along with the other 101 bugs. Also, the demo ³ º no longer crushes with a 'Page Fault' if not run under Win95 (this was not ³ º actually our bug, the Watcom compiler was to blame). ³ º ³ º The Soundtrack was composed by NOR some time ago and he recommends that ³ º you use FT2 with Gravis Ultrasound for the best reproduction. ³ º ³ þÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍþ º ÖÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³ º º Demo Files. ³ ³ º ÈÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ; ³ º The demo files that should come in the ZIP archive are: ³ º ³ º TRANS.EXE -> Executable for the demo. ³ º TRANS.DAT -> Data file. ³ º TRANS.XM -> Music file. ³ º TRANS.TXT -> This text file. ³ º ³ º ÖÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³ º º Basic Requirements ³ ³ º ÈÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ; ³ º CPU: 486DX 66Mhz ³ º Graphics: a VGA card ³ º Memory: 4meg ³ º ³ º ÖÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³ º º Recommended. ³ ³ º ÈÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ; ³ º CPU: Pentium 133Mhz ³ º Graphics: VGA card with plenty of speed ³ º Sound: A Midas compatible Sound Card. ³ º ³ º ÖÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³ º º Developed on: ³ ³ º ÈÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ; ³ º CPU: Pentium 166Mhz MMX ³ º Graphics: Diamond Stealth 3D pro ³ º Memory: 32meg (memory should not be a problem) ³ º Sound: Sound Blaster 16, ³ º Gravis Ultrasound Classic (didn't work with MIDAS) ³ º ³ þÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍþ º ÖÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³ º º POSSIBLE PROBLEMS. ³ ³ º ÈÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ; ³ º ³ º If you have downloaded the right data file and executable and are running ³ º on 486+ hardware there should be no problems. A clean boot is not required ³ º but may help to speed up the demo. Under Windows the demo flickers and I ³ º recommend you restart in DOS mode. ³ º ³ º The sound system requires for you to have the correct 'BLASTER' or ³ º 'ULTRASND' environment strings. If the sound system does not detect your ³ º card run the demo with '-config' switch and configure it manually. It is ³ º also recommended that you disable '16 bit mixing' if the demo runs too ³ º slow. !The MIDAS sound system didn't work with Gravis Ultrasound Classic ³ º on our machine. We may release another version of the demo if S2 fix the ³ º bug in a new version of MIDAS. ³ º ³ º There is NO intentional code to cause any harm to your system and we can't ³ º be held responsible for any damage that may come to you or your equipment. ³ º ³ þÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍþ º ÖÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³ º º AM PRODUCTIONS SO FAR. ³ ³ º ÈÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ; ³ º ³ º INFINITY.ZIP -- (Sep,1996) -- pure basic demo with lots of nice effects. ³ º ³ º FUZZY.ZIP -- (Dec,1997) -- an ASM and C demo with more effects ³ º plus a small pure Basic demo with some more ³ º stuff. ³ º ³ º WAVE.ZIP -- (Jul,1998) -- 4k released at Coven '98 coded by NOR. ³ º ³ þÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍþ º ÖÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³ º º AM DEMO GROUP SO FAR. ³ ³ º ÈÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ; ³ º ³ º RubiXcom -- Alfred Glickman -- The guy who calls himself the head coder. ³ º (RBX) Likes to code in BASIC, ASM and C. ³ º ³ º NOR -- Mark Glickman -- An ASM fan who works consistently and also ³ º loves music tracking on Fast Tracker II. ³ º ³ þÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍþ º ÖÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³ º º OTHER. ³ ³ º ÈÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ; ³ º ³ º This demo had won third place at Coven '98. ³ º ³ º All code except for the sound system was written by RubiXcom.
