Electrocat by Church of the Spinning Cube
ELECTROCAT =^.^= A 5KB intro for macOS by Church of the Spinning Cube, released at Revision '21. By Alia + McZonk It's nearly 2am the night before the deadline, and I'm tired as hell but this is finally done. It's either an overweight 4k, or an unfinished 8k... Realistically, it was never going to fit into 4k. I knew what content I wanted to put in it, and when that was done it was this big, and there wasn't much that could be cut. Maybe there will be a final, with the half-finished intro scene. Maybe not. Getting this finished at all was a miracle - I moved house this week, and spent until 10pm tonight building furniture :D The curious dither pattern is due to a new acceleration technique. I wanted to do realtime path tracing with complex animated geometry for a while, but making it fast enough is difficult. The dither pattern massively increases thread cohesion on the GPU, which speeds things up by ~40% :) I'll do a write-up when I have a bit more free time. - Alia Credits: Renderer, synth, visuals, music + tools : Alia Tools: McZonk
