Fossil evidence of shonk from the Mesozoic

We report here on the earliest evidence of shonk [1-27] from the Mesozoic Era in
the archaeological record. Our finding comprises as many as 1447 fossils excava-
ted from the archaeological area of Visby surrounding Sweden. To determine the
fossils' age we employed radiometric Uranium-Lead (U-Pb) dating. We present new
geochronology by the CA-ID-TIMS method indicating an age of 233.70 ± 0.43 Ma.
The anatomy of the shonk population has been measured using standard methods and
can be found in Table 1. An exemplary slice of the reconstructed CT (Computed
Tomography) volumes is shown in Figure 1.
