This is the first Music Disc produced by us, and we hope that it'll be a pleasure listening to the tunes. Vibes was released 24/12-93. Yep, it's a Christmas Present! ÄÍÍ About the MusicDisc ÍÍÄ First some words about the size of this production. It is quite big, we know, but it includes 12 tunes, and they consume a great deal of discspace. We didn't really want to use more that 1.44MB but we couldn't remove any of the tunes because we liked all of them, so therefore we decided to let it consume whatever it wanted. The main thing in this MusicDisc is design... It's so boring watching some simple starscroller on a black screen with some small texts displaying the name of the tunes. We tried to make it funnier and even a bit interactive... Another good thing is that you don't have to bother selecting tunes if you wanna listen to all of them. Just let the tunes play to the end and next tune will be loaded. Just start the file and you can use this as some kind of CD or MC. (I'd call it MD :) As you may notice, the logo says VIBES PART 1, and that's because the ex. finnish section was about to make PART 2, but now I guess there'll be no PART 2... At least not in a few years... (read more about the ex. finnish section later.) Requirements: * 386 computer (I guess a 486 will make it funnier :-) * GUS (512KB), SB or Covox (if you wanna hear any music...) * VGA (who hasn't got that???) * KeyBoard (oops...) * Some conventional memory. About 600kb without GUS, 310 with GUS This Production was developed on a 486/66 with GUS so I'm not quite sure how fast/slow it'll run on a 386, but it's hopefully acceptable. If you experience it slow, try to reduce the number of balls on the screen, using the grey "-" key. Or you can disable the vector by pressing "V". This prevents the vector from being displayed, but it's still updated, so you may have to wait while the program "thinks" he moves the vector around the screen... (you can put the vector back by pressing "V" again) If it still runs slow, and you're using SB or Covox, select a lower replayrate. If you have a GUS, live with the slowness or buy yourself a new computer. There's also a speed check while the intro is running. This is needed because of the syncing to the music. But if your computer fails in the intro, you must have a really slow computer... - Bug - There's one known bug in Vibes, but that appears so random, and so unpredictable that it's impossible to find. However, it's not dangerous for your health :) Sometimes the Equalizer or the Timer isn't cleared properly and that results in some garbage on the screen. It usually dissappears after changing tune, or letting the vector move across the garbage. Another thing that I've only seen on a Tseng Labs, is that the intro has some garbage on the bottom of the screen. This is some fault in the hardware. - Gravis UltraSound - The GUS playing routines are newly made, so there may be some bugs left with the UltraClicks (tm), but on my GUS there are very few of them though. I would like to thank some people that made it possible to develop the GUS-Routines: * Advanced Gravis and especially John Smith for supporting us! * Robban/Cascada respectively Joshua C. Jensen for GUSPLAY and GUSMOD. (I used some information from your sources.) - SoundBlaster - The SoundBlaster Routines are slow... I know, but now when I have a GUS, I'm not very interested in the old, shitty SoundBlaster. If you own a SoundBlaster: SELL IT and buy yourself a Gravis Ultrasound. You'll never do yourself a better favour! (ps. I HAVE partly re-coded the soundblaster code, but as soon as I got the GUS, I stopped that and made the GUS-player instead.) (This is the last production from us that supports SB/Covox. Only GUS rulez!) - SoundPlayer/Covox - The Covox Routines are as slow as the SoundBlaster, but it is impossible to optimize it more, due to the fact that you cannot use DMA with the parallel port. ÄÍÍ About Extreme ÍÍÄ I don't think we've released two productions with the same member-list :) As you see, we are always changing members due to a lot of coincidences... You might have heard that most of the finnish section + Vector Voyager left EXTREME to make games. This is not really a problem, but there's one thing that is sad... EXTERMINATE will NEVER be released. (If you wonder what that was, I can tell you that it was the demo we competed with at ASM 93. AND it was NOT called Extermination, as people thinks. (doesn't matter though.)) Why isn't it released then? Well, it was the finnish section that made 99.6% of it, and since they left, they wouldn't release the demo in EXTREME's name, would they? We are very sorry for this, but we can't do anything about it. The complete memberlist (for the moment) in alphabetical order is: Baldric - Coder Gibson - Musician RubberDuck - Graphician ToneDeaf - Musician WayWard - Sysop Zyric - Coder We would like another Coder and Graphician so if you are interested in joining, contact us! Addys + numbers in the end of the text. ÄÍÍ Earlier Productions ÍÍÄ Wargasm - Our first demo... What can you expect? Pixtro - Lousy intro about a product that never will be released Infro - Just a 200 pix scroll. Info About the SineCreator. BBStro - Simple BBS Intro, nothing worth watching... Techno Holic - Our first REAL demo. This is almost good. Birthro - Our first try to make some design. EP - A modplayer, shitty replayroutine... Sine Creator - The ultimate sinecreator. GET IT! Lunatic - Our latest demo. Quite okay. ÄÍÍ Contact Us!
