So we decided to make ║ And All great Demo │ │ a demo, and here it is... ║ groups around the │ │ ║ world! │ │ This demo was put together in about two ║ The Infinite Realm │ │ weeks, although I had been coding the routines ║ & Mindflux BBS's. │ │ since late 1993. Most of the time was spent ║ │ │ optimising the code (you call that optimised ║ Refer to demo end │ │ code??? :-) ), and anyway since the demo is in ║ scrolly for full │ │ 100% C++ it wont run very fast at all on less ║ greeting list. │ │ than a 486. It also uses some floating point math ╙────────────────────┘ │ so on any 486sx it will run quit slow on at least │ two parts! Only one part of the demo is not │ completely by me, and that is the plasma. While I │ was coding the fire I was thinking about coding │ the plasma, since it uses the same principle, so │ I told my brother Zimi, and he decided to code │ it. But unfortunately he cant code C++ only Basic │ and AMOS (on the Amiga) so he made it in Basic, │ and it was sloooow, so I converted it to C++. │ │ Anyway, if you have any problems running │ the demo try a clean boot, or your friends │ computer. Also if you don't have a SVGA video │ card then you cant run in SVGA mode (Duh). So │ just choose the VGA 320 x 200 x 256. The only │ difference between that and the SVGA mode besides │ the resolution is that you wont see the logo! │ And also the SVGA mode requires VESA BIOS, so if │ your video card doesn't have one your will have │ to load a driver like UNIVESA. Or the one that │ should have came with your video card. Also if │ you want to re configure the demo after the first │ load when it will save the config, run the demo │ with a command line of anything, eg XTATIC.EXE -R │ Thats all I can say besides, if all else fails │ contact us. │ │ Here is a list of the files in the archive: │ FILE_ID.ASC -- BBS file description in ASCII. │ FILE_ID.DIZ -- BBS file description in ANSI. │ IGNITE.EXE -- The executable file. │ IGNITE.TXT -- This document. │ IGNITE01.DAT -- Data file 1. │ IGNITE02.DAT -- Data file 2. │ IGNITE03.DAT -- Data file 3. │ IGNITE04.DAT -- Data file 4. │ │ For all of you who are thinking how lame │ it is to release a C++ demo, too bad! But don't │ worry I do own Borland Turbo Assembler and I have │ a 500 page tutorial on the subject, but I don't │ have the time / couldn't be bothered reading it │ right now... :-( But since I spent $300 dollars │ on it I will be learning it soon! │ │ To finnish we hope you like the demo and │ we would most appreciate feedback / comments on │ it! Even if you just want to talk, or ask for the │ source code :). │ │ Contact us at the following: │ The Infinite Realm BBS -- 61(2) 457 9284 │ Alternate Reality -- 61(2) 899 7812 │ Mindflux -- 61(2) 416 2513 │ Just leave a message for either of us. │ │ Or message via Internet EMail: │ martin@triode.apana.org.au │ │ -- Random. ──┘
