I am very proud I was one of the testers before the SV2020+1! I haven't had such chills for a long time while watching the demo. Perfect in EVERY detail... simply magical! Rati, Janek, Mr. Bee, Mic & Jess - "You are simply the beST!" <3.
Jesus christ guys, epic demo! Code, graphics music, design.. SUPERB!
Sweet!!
Epic in every spine tingling sense of that word!
Oh my god! Perfect!
i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, it’s a beautiful mix of oldskool and newskool, the whole pixel art/design and pace. fucking hell, everything about it is perfect as it gets.
this is how you make a proper comeback.

What is this? Excellence. :)
Bloody hell, what a great demo. Watching it many times, to find a weak point.... Oh well, lets watch it again... THX OVR!
Epic come back with a massive demo. Woohoo, tune and gfx! The greetings had everything on me, wtf, ST looking like a neo geo. Loved the wireframe stuff and that arcade 3d stuff a lot.
What a massive comeback! It's perfect in everything, code, design and the music. Just wow! :o
Completely flabbergasted... Wow what a massive trip!
Thank you so much and lots and lots of love!

Astounding!
Awesomeness, kudos OVR. More please;)
.wow
Uh, oh... I can feel it... the goose bumps! The chain of events leading to this skin change usually starts with a stimulus such as cold or fear... or a new ST demo from the Overlanders in 2021! What a wonderful way of celebrating the 35th anniversary of the ST! Welcome back guys, hope you stay around for a while!
Amazing Prod, OVR still quality in 2021! congratz Guyz
I love the credits part!

Amazing, amazing demo. Damn.
Cool!
Very nice!
Brilliant! <3
Interesting and fast routines, floyd gouraud being a fave of mine, and all this so nicely put together, the demo flows and is a real pleasure to watch.
(I could have lived without the intentionnal (?) glitches though)

Great show!
MEGA DEMO!
These 3d textured objects are awesome.
Basically +1 to everything said above.
Now I'm waiting for the technical explanations, specially how they achieved the fast textured objects, because it looks too fast for C2P considering how large the objects gets, but for having done attempts at bit-plan based texturing, I can see how horrible the code would be without C2P :)

Fantastic ST demo, full of oldschool and newschool goodness.
I like how you Atari guys go 4 MB easily. Amiga should do that, too.

Bravo les gars !
Great come back and of course not expected this year but renew with the past is the best way to make a new, fresh and amazing production on our old favourite machine. I'll put 4 Mo of memory today to see it on my STF :)
The greetings part is my favourite part. better than Sector One, Oxygene or New Beat, thanks!

Awesome demo, really!
A tidbit! I cannot get enough of these f***ing fast and beautiful texture
mapped 3D objects. Awesome! This demo rocks. I am in love :-)

Fantastic! So much attention to detail.. the shade behind the pong ball anyone? Massive atari 2600 flashback :)
The first credits sequence really impressed me with its flow. This kind of stuff looks really pro and fits the hardware as well. Also the various VUmeters in the timetunnel really adds some spice to the design. Hologram hand graphics and the various logos were really nice and sharp. Also the technowoman scene looks really cool with those squares rising around her face.. Lot's of nice details indeed.
I bet the texturemapped may have been the hardest ones to do? Kind of an impossible problem to get this moving at any decent framerate on Atari-ST. The dithered gouraud objects also looked really good.
I scanned the QR code and there's a treat for the people not watching it on youtube!

I was convinced that it runs only on STE, amazing job!
What a joyful ride!

amazing come back, so cool to see the union logo with some modern tricks on it.. (side note: It's insane to release such a thing remotely, you missed some magic...)
great comeback ! Although some parts are displayed too much long for my taste, it is very nice to see and hear.
I'm waiting for the next one
I'm waiting for the next one
35 years in the making. Sweet production.
Awesome! A good definition for "demoscene never dies"
Great one with some nice content, I liked the greetings part & the textured 3d one the most.
Also, this.

Sucks you in from the first second on.
Love it!
Guys, you've just crushed the system - fantastic music, fantastic flow, fantastic effects, fantastic amount of work - everything just f.....g fantastic!
Incredible comeback!
I loved it from start to finish. Except the screens gouraud/mapping, it looks like an oldschool demo with a newschool design, it's super refreshing. :)
Code, Music, design and gfx are fabulous!
The hall of fame is awesome, I noticed 16 "iconic" ships parked in the background. In the order of appearance:
1 GOLDRUNNER, 2 PLUTOS, 3 JUPITER PROBE, 4 SKYRIDER, 5 XENON, 6 XENON, 7 WARHAWK, 8 RETURN TO GENESIS, 9 FOUNDATION'S WASTE, 10 URIDIUM, 11 STARRAY, 12 XENON2, 13 WARP, 14 ???, 15 WINGS OF DEATH, 16 LETHAL XCESS.
So I'm missing one, what game does this 3D ship belong to at 12:03?

Great demo with a lot of ideas and changes of pace which makes the demo particularly pleasant to watch.
que c'est beau :-)
Was there, seen this, great job. /Amiga uer
Seen this live. Astonishing!
For celebrating this achievement, I'm digging out the good old ST and running this on the real machine.
good job
Great production :)

ZNAKOMITE! Lada chwila ląduje u mnie na kanale ;)
Very cool
What a fantastic Demo!
Wow that rules, pity I could not be in Gdansk this time
What a comeback! With such style and quality! Simply awesome! This makes me long for more!
Even tho you guys were out of the game for a while, the technical quality of this demo exceeds many of todays standards, albeit needing 4mb of memory. The design and presentation in conjunction with the music really stand out in this demo, with a great presentation of the backdrops and huds that provides extra depth to the effects. The little details that are all over the place really make the demo feel very, VERY vibrant, and hides the fact perfectly that the handful of effects used are stretched for a very long time.
I have 2 notes of criticism;
- I would have expected detailed textures for the texturemapped objects (f.e. backside of the head is very coarse for 1px tmap), if you use 4mb of ram, use them well!
- the variable effect speed (object movement locked to main route, rather than fixed timer) dont do the the texturemapped parts right in my opinion, perhaps lock the object movement to the vbl rather than the mainloop; or smooth out the effect speed over multiple frames to maintain a constant perceived movement speed
Looking forward to the next one! And thanks for including the Plutos ship into your demo! Kudos!

Great demo! Esp like the graphics and attention to detail. My only minor complain is that some parts runs a bit too long.
Great works amigos.
Even if taking part to The Overlanders venture was something I did almost 30 years ago (with some very charming YM2149 sounds you can get easily addicted to), I always felt close to the Demo-Scene.
And what you have performed guys is just awesome.
I like the part with the video game lateral scroller where a groovy spaceship is hovering !! Transitions are great and Jess tune fits perfectly to the different parts of the demo. I'll watch it again and again, for sure !!
All the best guys !
And by the way, you can listen to some of my EDM tune here :

THE UNION : Suddenly i've been teleported in the 90s ... Here is my 'coup de ❤️' ... Thx for the trip
what a stunning demo !!!! fantastic coding, love the 3d parts and the garaud shading......from the U.K.
Great prod!
Very nice Demo. Good music, great effects and groovy graphics. Thumbs up!!!
Nice Amiga prod ... wait a sec ... Atari people on ST how can it be ?

When I heard "Overlanders" I expected a little one or two effect comeback screen just for the fun of it. But it was one of these few demos that absorbed me right from the start and left me with an open mouth. Amazing flow, I really like how you just take off directly at the beginning and then change the pace multiple times.
Such carefully crafted details, synchronization, transitions and original design ideas and the direction are unusually fresh for an ST demo and it makes me happy to see it can be done after all. But then again, you cheated - you got Mic*! ;)
Obviously, a very high level of work and skills involved in all departments. I couldn't quite believe it when I saw the highres 3D. An insanely progressive soundtrack with many different parts - so good! As a fanboy from the first hour, it really makes me happy to hear Jess again. Thank you OVR!
*for example: that technical rather simple member list screen with the pumping music and animated robot lady left a great impression, such an atmospheric scene! Same goes for the "we are Overlanders" part - great buildup and iconic scene with that glowing presentation and uplifting music.

nice one....
OvR is back, when did this happen?
awesome STuff
Wow. Super cool flow. Can't imagine how much work this must have been...
love it
Yeah, Baby, Yeah!
pure beauty, I love it!!!
design/gfx, music, and code are all top notch. great prod !
Bravo! I particularly liked the floyd gouraud 3D objects! The whole thing really flowed well.
Patrick, is your devchain online somewhere? Could be useful!

Great prod! (⭐__⭐)
On the technical side, I am pretty much clueless about how the gouraud and texture mapping can run at any decent speed on ST.

Totally cool!
so polished and well designed.. love it
awesome demo congrats
I can safely say that this was worth 28 years of waiting. A great piece of art. I don't think we can estimate how much work really went into this, but the result is mind-blowing. There are not many demos that tell a 15 minutes story and remain interesting, carried ahead by the constantly changing soundtrack and beautiful details like the small color blocks floating across the screen in various scenes. If there's ever been an ST demo where I had wanted to be in the greetings, then it's this one ;-)
OVR TO THE TOP !!!!!!!
FK TLB !

Awesome demo on --> STF <--
all is great dezign, music, code and gfx
all is great dezign, music, code and gfx
No blitter, no dma, no custom chipset
Pure 68k awesome in design code, music. Especially buzzer deep sound "bass line" in the first part. Its awesome how music flows with the effect on screen.
If OVR can make Dim active to code 68k again, we can expect something that...
Like this in 1990, no blitter, no shit. Sampled sound, rasterbars, bitmaps all in 50FPS on plain STF.
See here: https://youtu.be/3cIHjk34fwY

And what i know, somewhat, some AY replayer needs a "Timer" or so, code needs a timer too? So as far i know, Jess fat bzz bass line needs a timer, which coders wants too. Its great how Jess and coders work with.
Great comeback demo, with a few really interesting parts
instant favourite
Awesome demo! great effects but I especially like the visual direction here!
Dudes
It is a real pleasure to see such production nowadays
Il love it from start to finish
Can't talk too much about the gfx coz it was done by Mic. But the code and the musaxxx are real top level models
Thanks for this pure loving demo moment
And please ... give us more :)

love the color scheme and graphics
Awesome! Welcome back! :)
Some impressive parts! Graphics are fantastic!
When I see a long demo like that, I'm immediately thinking, "that's a lot, I hope you haven't given it all" ; because I'd rather have n smaller demos every now and then than one epicly long every 10 years
wow, just.... wow. superb style and presentation
ouch, forgot the thumbs up!
Superb in every respect. The graphics, the music, the flow, the style, the little gimmicks Mic keeps throwing in to give the demo that extra look of polish, the soundtrack by Jess and even though i wasn't too fond about the wireframe stuff, the 3D part had me drop my jaw onto my knees.
This is a masterpiece and if ever there was one person saying you can't expect any surprises on old-school platforms any more, this person has been proven wrong.

One of the best things I saw and heard on the ST.
Everything i have seen is excellent!
I've got to say the textured polys caught me by surprise!
It might be the best I've seen on ST
Why did I forgot to thumb up this one?
yeahhh great
Incredible stuff
Just a great demo, amazing work and great effects all along the demo, you rock !
There is a genuine story in it. Thanks for the thrills !

Very very impressive; the first credits part is where it locked me in.
Absolutely fantastic demo! It's full of amazing scenes, visual ideas and great transitions. On top we have fantastic and coherent gfx, music, effects that never overstay their welcome - the whole package!
I also dig the cyberpunk theme and consistent colour palette throughout the whole demo!
Probaby my favourite oldschool demo of 2021!

Well deserved Meteoriks award. 👍

Excellent production. Especially enjoyable on real hw.

Top démo !!!
Very impressive !

Forgot to thumb this up. This demo pushed me to finally upgrade my STFM to 4MB after it came out. And what a demo it is. The design, graphics, theme, effects, and story all come together wonderfully. Loved reading the end part scroller text as well.
Haha and I forgot the thumb again!
man ... going over "demos that work on mister fpga" (made 2020 or later) ... i stand in awe maybe first time since 'X 23 c64 streak this year, first time ive seen this , a standard ST (which i used to have looong ago), not even an stE, far from an A1200 ... this is totally subarashi-des omg
Ouph..
This is.. just perfect!
A big and very beautiful demo for a come-back! Nice design and some screens are superb like the first 3D filled objects.
