I do get the SMB-vibe but the controls are just not great, the character feels Mario-levels of slippery (one of the great things Meat Boy does so well is that the character has amazing traction so you never slip off an edge) and the gravity + the character not jumping high enough doesn't provide great in-air control; check INK for a relatively simply but tight implementation of the same mechanics. the level design isn't great either, I mostly wish the saws would vary in speed relative to each other so you could wait until they phase in a way that you can make a jump, and particularly in the first part it took me minutes during the live presentation to figure out that the wall that has the same pattern and mostly the same colour as the background is actually a wall you can walljump on.
