Thanks, I've just had the itch to explore this genera of music via javascript and make the tiniest player possible. Every song on the album was released separately as a 140 character dweet. Here's the first one... https://www.dwitter.net/d/13606

I wanted to collect everything I've done together and it just made the most sense to package it in a 1k format with whatever trimmings would fit. Also, I just wanted to do something different then I normally do. This is really my first attempt at dipping my toes into the demoscene, though I've watched many awesome ones.

Here's a link to the live version...

There's some cool stuff there but I still think the future of bytebeat is combining several of them into one varied song. :)

Am I supposed to use Chrome for this? In Firefox I see visual effects but no sound. In Edge I hear sound but effects seem broken.

I think maybe it only works in Chrome.

YouTube version here.

For this demo I wanted to explore what the smallest possible functions could do. I did a lot of research into this and wanted to present it in the most accessible way possible.

My next focus will be exploring more complex bytebeat music. I have some ideas for a different kind of tool to compose bytebeat and make it more palatable.
Some cool sounds but I don't really like it... sounds like you know a minimum of music making. More complex bytebeats like something in tctronic should be perfect.
But the visuals save the piggie.

if you're interested in bytecode music there are a lot of interesting formulas getting abused on this thread btw.

Thanks for the kind words yall!

@TomCatAbaddon I think my fav is FTL, just seems like the most chill. least fave is Rumble (I nearly cut that one)

@100bit^NiS - wow, tctronic is awesome! For this I was going for a less constructed feel with as pure as possible bytebeat. I feel like the more you add to bytebeat, the less it is bytebeat. For example one thing you can do (that tctronic does) is index from an array to form a melody. That being said, I totally agree with you and my next demo will be more along those lines.

Btw, I just added the full album to soundcloud with adjust song lengths and volume.

not for me
I don't want to be unfair, but "the most accessible way possible." would include supporting more than one browser. Also the songs a too simple for my taste. A lot more can be done with bytebeat as tctronic shows. But the size and presentation saves it from a thumb down.

Interesting and not bad. It didn't work in both SeaMonkey v2.49.4 (doesn't play) and Firefox v67 (no audio) web browsers.
