i dont see the point of watching a stupid avi file wich are huge and looks like crap (cant even read the text) and the music sounds fucked up in the avi..

a firstie for a platform is always a nice thing. i really cant understand people like stefan showing disrespect. a firstie on a new platform is 100* more worth than 100 demos on some already explored platform. big up scoopex - over a decade of quality.

well, I wouldn't consider the xbox a completely unexplored platform, since it's just directx.

the xbox is just a pc, you know.. intel celeron cpu, nvidia gpu, some win32-alike os and directx, afaik.

so why not release a pc executable of the production instead of an avi? =)

hey, do you guys know what stereo is? when the sound comes out of both channels? ;) if recorded in mono, do the avi in mono then. not just in the left channel, that's quite annoying =)

and the text is compressed to death, who did the soundtrack? at least I've heard the tune before, so even the soundtrack isn't original.

and the rest is like, a picture, some 3d-object and a scroller. nothing to brag about, as stefan said =)

This production is actually developed using a real devkit, those devkits costs about $10000. Pretty lame to to use offical devkits to make sceneproductions if you ask me, pretty illegal to for that part.

it's also funny to see how the same hw that runs Halo with considerable ease ends up scrolling some text.

Booooooh... teo^knG get your facts straight! Any console uses a cpu, M$ chose to use one from intel. Any console uses a graphics unit, M$ chose one from nvidia, wheres ie. gamecube uses one from ATI.
And so on and so forth. It is so f*cking narrowminded to just slag the xbox of as a small pc, because it works nothing like it. And prove itself to be way ahead of any competitor on all fronts, when it comes to being a powerfull console. And then honestly i dont give a shit who made it, or its parts, because the games are not going to look any less amazing because of that!.

barock, yeah, thats my point. burstin' thru to any platform, rocking any system, thats the aim of the game. there we see which groups are really "generations ahead". hitmen, haujobb, paradox, anthrox, napalm, and yeah, it seems scoopex can be called in a row with them when it comes to conquer new platforms. big up !

You can be quite sure they didn't steal it. More likely is that one scoopex member works at a game company that has a XBox devkit and did the demo during his free time. What I see in the screenshot sure doesn't look particularly interesting (haven't downloaded the production yet, so no rating).

besides, warez versions of the xdk and mod-chips are available for several months now.

the simple fact that this is apparently only a scroller with a background image and music makes it pretty much laughable on the coding side (especially on xbox). when not even any kind of reverse engineering or hardware hacking was involved, I really don't see why it would matter that this production is a first.

scene groupos still doing crack intros are not generations ahead, they still live in the past!

my deepest respect goes to slayer of scoopex, the one who changed the demo scene forever by coding the first cool trackmo: mental hangover. that's a one of ten alltime demo. maybe one of five.

we had this "oldschool" discussion in the demo-art thread. i have my very own definition of oldschool spirit, and it has nothing to do with telling everybody how cool everything was ten year ago.

and as a game developer there is one thing i just can't respect: illegal copying. doing it is shamefull (and i know we all have) but being proud of it is disgusting.

why cant people make scrollers that scroll at a sensible speed so you can actually read what they say?

and with chaos ideology of oldschool i must agree 100% , oldschool isnt remaking the old shit with more sophisticated hw, ie making it without challenge, and stating its as good as the OLD effects wich where a pain in the ass to come up with .. "Oldschool" is imo about the feeling, trying to make something new.. making oldschool on an XBOX to use all the shaders, mixing up with some neat tricks wich can only be done on xbox : fooling around with per-pixel effects on backbuffers etc due to its memory layout this is possible..
We get this as "oldschool":
Scroller, Flatshadedalphablended cubes, some decent gfx.. How nice ;)
We get this as "generations ahead":
effects doingable on REALLY old hardware, DONE on really old hardware.. We get this on an xbox.. that can run halo :)

i could agree with reebok's main idea, but i think he overrates the whole "fun" thing. scene is primary connected with hard work, competition struggle and sacrifice. people generally overrate the fun factor. if scene would be only about fun sceners only would booze and watch pr0n.. =)

where is the scene struggle ? where is the scene competition spirit ? where is the motivation to be the damn best ?

Devkit or not, in my humble opinion this is a pioneer product.

Otherwise meantime there really could be more sophisticated demos on Xbox by far.
This Xbox console hardware isn't as bad as it's reputation.
A Intel Mobile Cel. 733MHz at 133MHz FSB with 64MB DDR-SDRAM, 6,4GB/s bandwidth must be enough for superior demos.

Take a look at the games. ;)

And don't forget, there are no Windows OS restrictions.
