Twisters are nice and simple to code and can deliver good bang for the bug..ahem buck. ;) But you have to put in some effort with layering, colors and shading to make it look cool (or just distort the hell out of it). This doesn't look like a twister at all, because although there's some shading at the outer edges there are no reference points in between. Hence you end up with something that looks like two intersecting sine curves, with no visible rotation/3d "depth illusion" at all.

And that's perfectly fine! Don't get dissuaded by criticism, it's usually meant to help you improve.
I for one like it as a first attempt, and I also approve of some details like the background "thing".
Keep on coding and releasing, preferably at a demoparty!
