It won't run on any of my real amiga hardware due to lack of memory, so I had to resort to winuae. It's a nicely presented demo with some cool ideas, but I can't thumb it due to the unwarranted memory requirements. (maybe because it was written in C?)

At the moment, the demo requires around 850kB of contiguous chunk of chip memory + another 65kB of memory for loading up executable file. I'll eventually deliver ADF disk image that's guaranteed to run on 1MB chip Amigas.

With reasonable level of code optimization GCC can deliver code on par with hand-written ASM. Though, you still need to look at GCC's output and learn how to write in C to generate effective m68k code.

All my A500/A600 only have 1mb (.5chip+.5fake or 1mb chip) so that explains that.

Doesn't look bad at all and even though the effects aren't exactly revolutionary, or even "taken to the max", they show a little bit of creativity.
That said: you won't get your thumb until you either release a 512+512 compatible version or convince me that it really can't be done. ;)

I don't care very much but this autovote thing should be fixed now that we can add authors to the prods. I mean, authors' votes should not add to the count automatically (not even as piggies).

It's been a couple of years since I last checked the generated 68k code from C compilers, and I was less than impressed.

- most effect were optimized to work well without fast memory
- new effect control system (in spirit of GNU Rocket) was implemented
- inflate decompression routine is used to unpack bitmaps
- replayer was reconfigured to run on vertical blank interrupt
- order of effects was slightly changed
- some minor and major changes and fixes (mostly very technical)

Why not vbcc? I'm more familiar with GCC - as a user and a hacker (not programmer yet). GCC optimizes the code reasonably, has full control over passing function arguments in registers, has great engine for inline assembly and a few other interesting features. I understand some gcc's internals, which helps me to feed right C-code into it to render assembly programming unnecessary most of the time.
