How about not assigning the canvas width to the setInterval rate?
Apart from that speed problem it's neat :)

very slow in safari.
What everyone else said, slow here.
Slow as hell...
Slow and simple don't mix. If it's slow, it'd better be complex or otherwise engaging. :|

THX™!
Neat.
Thanks for the greets ;)
Btw, you can save 3 bytes by using 'hsl(40,70%,'+z+'%)' and getting rid of the {} of the for loop by shoving all the stuff that is before the second for loop into its init.
Also there must be an easier to generate/draw that shape. ...maybe by doing the opposite of what you do now: drawing the holes in the archs with low opacity rects. The idea is to end up with something like this:
Also I would just "stretch" the angle used in the Math.sin() in function of the x and z.
Hope this all make sense :p

Code:
w=V.width|=s=Math.sin;
for(Z=77;Z--;)
for(X=w;X--;)
fillRect(X,computeY,.1,computeHeight)
