So many good parts to this demo, but for me it's the excellent use of CRTC tricks to do something that's uniquely CPC that makes it so special! :)

and yeah, what diver said. soundtrack is a 8bit demoscene "bohemian rhapsody" - it changes so unpredictable and organically throughout the entire demo, you just can't have a time to take a breath.

That was a long work and the soundtrack was actually made a while ago, at the very begining. It would have been different if it was made nowadays I think. Evolution of taste and way to work...

Instead of falling into a reply to the bashing by Batman Group you could have just done a more original approach to assert your place but at least it made me laugh a few times to see the pointed fingers in effect form :)

Not a batman killer only because of the format (short demo with EVERYTHING in memort, instead of a long trackloader).
However more technically (bigger effect, complex borders, several plans) and artistically (amsdos transition, colors, ...) brillant than BF.

I really liked the spinning blocks part. I'd planned something similar for my own demo, but glad I ran out of time to do it because this CPC demo would have showed me up. Great stuff!

Hot twisters and other effects as well, good music.. Only thing i didnt like that much was the scroller font.
The wonk hiphop part made me rather happy, something pretty unexpectable from ultrasyd, in the line of some of goto80's best "fucked up" tracks.
More technical and less design-ish than Batman, but still a masterpiece, and the music by Ultrasyd rulez!

Awesome demo! It didn't live up to its promise as a BF killer, and hopefully so! (because a BF-sized demo with that level of quality would not just kill Batman, but annihilate the entire DC Comics universe :)

What kaneel said. This suffers from a common problem for a lot of oldskool demos (not to batman tho) in that it's quite boring to look at for the most part. Still, the best bits are really nice, only if it was concised into a tighter packet. The joker pic is also quite ugly imo, mainly 'cause of the palette. Still clearly worth a thumb up.

If you haven't tried it yet, run the demo with only 64k of RAM. It gives you a special mini-demo separate from the main one.

I enjoyed the ever-changing tune with nice melodies and sick, weird dnb parts. All the rotozoomers were ace, and the twister was really pleasant. Not sure if the plasmas are anything fancy, although they're neat.

@Beb Your prod actually aged well and is amazing on all fronts (gfx/code/music). The only big complaint is his length. Overall, it really deserved its great rank here in Pouet and yes, this prod is definitively a forward step in CPC demoscene History!
