Nice article. I discovered the A3 trick in a different manner. I followed the return address of the exe to the place in ROM where the entry point gets called from. There I found a tell-tale JSR 4(A3) instruction. ;)

Firstly because I read the long answer linked to by Photon above and could feel the pain getting 64 byte Amiga intros on the screen took. :D
Secondly because the result of that pain also helped in getting the accuracy of WinUAE improved.
