splended awesome demo. Is there a video cap or link?
visu on avaruusmies
loved the visual style, the direction, everything!
Will wait for kkapture... Looks pretty cool!
hrmmm piggy
The texturing and overlays make it look like a 2000-era demo on my ATI machine, but the screenshot looks much better, so I guess I'll wait for the video too.
Snorefest
Excellent music, nice graphics and good theme featured in this one.
Quite a big contrast between the quality of the visuals, some look astonishing while some are just putrid to look at, which usuallt is a big turn-off for me. But, most of it looked really good, and the direction was spot-on.
For direction and music, though this could've done with a bit more polish here and there. The punchline at the end was awesome.
d3d compiler_43.dll missing error wat ? (win7x64)
i prolly suck.
i prolly suck.
im not the greatest fan of such "braggin" music i have to admit.
visuals did not always work out as they could have in some moments (warptunnel/stars..)
punchline at the end was super and made me laugh.

I really liked the feeling of alien technology and especially the pacing of this demo. For me this is perhaps the best demo design by visualice ever.
Wow. How long is this? :O
Very diverse scenes, nice soundtrack. It probably looks great on reverse as well! But it's diversity hurts it somehow as some visuals seem inconsistent.

alien arcade rulez!!! :)
damn it i need a new gfx D:
Some scenes are too long, visuals vary from great to horrible, and music is nice. Felt quite unpolished. Piggy.
now i wanna play ufo: enemy unknown :p
overall another massive fr-release, the music serves the gfx well. also it fits the space-theme of the party perfectly. the last screen in the arcade reminds me of TRON :)
critics?
well, some models look a bit 10-years-ago and unpolished, some scenes are a little slow-paced (but hey, its visualice).

Great show
I found it unbelievably boring and wouldn't throw a coin into that arcade.
I can not say visuals and music are bad, but seriously, this is the same stuff as usual. Try doing something fresh and different for a change...

Visualice's demos are really something else, and this is no exception. This fucking rulez, love the music too.
nice, but long
A lot of effort there, and some parts look good. But it's still an overly long flyby, and the storytelling parts just don't work.
video somewhere?
First off let me start with how much I appreciate a demo with a narrative, and even with a "plot twist", even if the latter was a bit music-video-ish.
But I can't help thinking that this demo was just not visually appealing - I couldn't help the feeling that the scenes that are meant to represent something large are crushed by texture stretching and lack of detail, while some scenes often have overly detailed parts which look strange from a distance. The texturing is flat and confusing, and sometimes it's hard to make out what is supposed to be looked at. At one scene I even had to wonder if it rendered properly.
Just compare this to Finally Inside or YouShould, which I believe the genre this demo competes in - Pixtur's demos feature huge structures, but with a distinct contrast between a monolithic background and a focused foreground, while in Aeon5 the two sometimes overwhelm each other in a wrong way, and neither of them are particularly visually appealing because of the aforementioned texture stretching and what I perceived as too bright ambient lighting, while in the Still/HJB demos, the backgrounds are only sparsely textured to make room for the foreground.
I don't know what to make of this demo, because it really could've been a lot better. But I appreciate it for what it is.

Very very nice. Really nice visuals, although even with full multisampling/antialiasing, I got a bit of moire on some of the textures.. weird.
Love the style though. Perhaps a little long :-)

Epic!
I like the idea of the facebook/twitter "like" buttons on the startup screen btw.. we might have to borrow that idea :-)

Yeah
don't have to go to the cinema tonight. great trip, great atmosphere and music, but some scene really look ugly.
This was nice. Nice visuals, a littlebit incoherent. Nice ending!
Huge, yes some parts could do with a little tidying up but whatever. Love the soundtrack, the way the graceful parts are brutally shut down with tight sync, and the constant tension and bombast throughout.
did they change the link on scene.org? should be http://www.scene.org/file.php?file=/parties/2010/altparty10/alternative_demo/fr-072_-_aeon5.zip&fileinfo

A bit too long at times and I really dislike the colour scheme (looks like a typical unreal3 engine game where everything is dull and grey).
It did get a lot better after the long'ish beginning, but still it's a piggie.
Calexico: Install DirectX9, you still need to install it even with vista/win7 that ship with dx10/11.

Watched that thing "at work" today. Really solid. Even tho some of the scenes were a lil long. Minor texture issues and a lil of colorcontrastlessness. It's a good production. Along with the music. Sounded good out of the speakers there.
visualice mybe is not good producer, but all ideas is great. mix all with all. ) i like it
very much like the theme, messy maybe but the scenes were interesting enough that i didn't want it to end

Watching it on youtube passes by like no tomorrow. And makes it look kinda 'better'. Strange thing.
I guess I have to watch it realtime again. But It's really well designed. thumb x2

Not a whole lot of polish, as I expect from some FR releases.
But holy freaking cow is that a lot of content. The music really makes this thing move. Really quite enjoyable.

Awesome camera work and motion! Enjoyed the music too. Who needs bright colors anyway?
Also, it feels more like a short movie than a demo, which certainly works for me...

loved it!
The beginning reminds me the line of games from Wing Commander to Eve online.
Also, the arcade cabinet at the end looks like an allusion to Wing Commander 2.

I am amazed about the amount of content and I really like the general style / syncing and concept. Most scenes are real jaw-droppers and proof of visualize' genius. However, some scenes don't really fit in and one or two important cuts could have benefit from some color-transitions.
The confusing thing is that you obviously know how to "pimp up a scene in post". Because at 3:47 you suddenly enable the fucking awesome mode. I guess this must be part of the game console concept...
Ah, and I really like the music mastered with sound fx.

What Gargaj and Pixtur said.
Just had a look at the other entries? Why the fuck didn't came this 1st place?
Incredible graphics and atmosphere. For me a clear thumb up
I got bored. I don't like when demos try to tell a story, film media is so much better at that. The music was too repetitive for my tastes also.
Watched this at the party place and got bored. It looks pretty, but it's just way too long, and I didn't like the music at all.
Watched on youtube 'cause is dead.
Great one, i liked it
Great one, i liked it
Pixtur: because it was ALTParty, and Vic-20 and gimmick-entries will always rank high. :) That said - I liked this, despite it's graphical shortcomings.
What a trip... Music kept the interest and atmosphere.. A different direction for farbrausch.. Reminds me of a HAUJOBB syle demo. well done
I love how it feels like something important is happening when you see 2:20 or this demo. A whole universe happens in a box or a tiny lapse of time.
And proper mastering.
And proper mastering.
Visualice <3
That said, the 'control room' scene was quite poor.. the different parts of the scene (the floor, windows, central thing) didn't seem to connect with each other and looked like separate overlapping objects.
The rest was pretty solid, a few flaws here and there but overall stunning. And the tune is fucking great!
I'm really digging this investigation of unknowable alien life + technology :)

abit unpolished perhaps.. not sure what, but feels like something is missing.
some very nice scenes here and there though. and always cool to see story demos :)

a spacetrip, a bit too long, unique enough though.
Some really stunning looking scenes
nice ride, bit too long

Guys, install the latest DirectX end-user runtime. Fixed the missing dll -problem.
A nice demo, had some really pretty parts and some really ugly ones too. Didn't like the overall colour scheme, too much dark brown and dark green and dark gray mixed up in a big dark mess. The terrain flyover with the massive black particle thing waiting at the end was my favourite part.
The music is v. good except for the gross overuse of slow piano melodies synced with events. I grew really annoyed with it towards the end.

I also wondered where the FARB in FARBRAUSCH went....
An epic SPACE OPERA! AWESOME VISUALS, Visualice :) Didn't like the music that much... but atleast there was some music... not like in some other ambientish prods you did before.
absolutely stunning!
Only one scene is ugly as hell (the nearly black-screen with explosions) I don't understand what it is..
But all in all it is a really great show! Nice Story and a lot of good fx & ideas. Also the music fits perfect..

This is 100% visualice and 0% farbrausch
but under the hood i smell the haujobb style.

Jazz: You mean the "haujobb" style that was 100% visualice and 0% haujobb? Yeah, possible. :D
Feels like a return to form.
amazing trip, give us a link to soundtrack please :)
The quality varies a lot during this prod ; I don't know yet what to think of it. It sure looks like a ton of work... :-|
I hope there will be a final with more polishing.
I hope there will be a final with more polishing.
Nice ending, epic music and sfx, some very cool scenes. I wish to see this on a big screen.
It feels like an updated reinterpration of Haujobbs Art. Which is a good thing!!! iLike!
Amazing soundtrack, cool scenes with an overall immersive atmosphere. Definitely a thumbup :)
Awesome amount of work!
Congrats guys!
Congrats guys!
really solid production
Exactly what Gargaj said.. cant wait until Visualice gets to grip with it fully and brings us a masterpiece in both appearance and concept..
not sure how i feel about this one, i'm kinda unengaged on first view. i'll watch it again later :P
What a trip.
perfect
The music is killer, the visuals are mostly boring flyby-scenes. Soundtracklink anyone?
shame it wasnt completely polished but thumbs up for all the finished bits
I didn't really totally "get" this one. It felt like it was designed about 10 years ago with all the strange, spacey, geometric things. Also thought the music was a bit overwrought. I did enjoy the bit of a twist at the end. Overall, thanks for the ride--a solid prod!
i really enjoyed this one visualice!!!
never stop what you aredoing for FR and did for HJB
Keep em coming! this one was really ace!

p.s. where can i play that arcade game ? :)
Hmm.. wasn't haujobb really blasted for doing too many demos like this some years back? :D
Umm, that was ... interessting. Like the music very much.
really awesome production visualice. so, the music was first and THEN you came with the idea of the visuals and the visuals itself? amazing. i must admit that after a couple of views, this production grows from a thumb up to a massive thumb up. i will come back here when i have a CDC to spare :)
I'm not used to watch demos as narratives (so I didn't) but I really liked the mood in this one.
Wow masterpiece!
hund
Soundtrack is available here!
great music and most of graphics... but i'm not getting really satisfaction from this demo )
Strange but beautiful athmosphere for a demo. Halfway through I really felt like in a game that I would love to play and wanted to suggest that you turn this into a Super Stardust like space shooter. And then you end the demo with a zoom out from an arcade machine. Splendid.
Amazing amount of work.
Some 3d is still not decently mapped.... But for once the direction made me forgetthose small imperfactioms.
A nice demo.

watched again with lights out - marvelous stuff. GREAT demo.
the universe, part 5
greaaaaaat music and good visuals with some scenes being less good.
but still pretty wow!
but still pretty wow!
me like
Whiners gonna whine - this thing is nearly 10 minutes and it didn't bore me to tears. Visualice got talent - the rest of the critique is just words :D
It's alright. Not the best one. That beginning's tunnel scene was too long.
Quote:

Boy, was it ugly (except for the last scene - that was fine). And quite boring.
Sorry, that'd be a 'no' from me.

nice trip
good music+good design+good effects = good demo.
Whoa! Really great piece of prod. Visually every scene was really beautiful but for some reason it lost something in the motion. Unlike Gargaj I really loved the textures since they looked wonderfully organic.
nice soundtrack and some great scenes but it has no soul. so a piggy.
With a few more sequence changes in the build up, this would be quite epic. As it is, it takes too long to get going. But it's still very good.
I quite liked this one. I start liking this kind of fr releases, where you can dive into and forget. Great atmosphere, music and abstract feeling visuals, still with some spacey theme.
the apogee of Visualice touch ?
Like all the stuff from visualize ... if you let yourself transport in his world its beautyful
Very interesting!
alien world.. love it.
Some parts are too long and not interesting, but some are very nice. I like the engine, so I thumb up ;o)
i cannot stress enough how awesome the music is. who is this "hidden" guy? not "dj hidden" i suppose? :>
epic!
What glxblt and apricot said combined. Too long, too many ugly parts, music didn't work for me. Sorry
the code is superb, thanx chaos for the engine !
the music is getting better towards the end getting NiN-style !
but i still HATE your style of demos, artsy-fartsy :p
SCHEISSE! SCHEISSE! SCHEISSE!
keengolm: "SCHEISSE!"

Didn't like every part, but I really admire Visu's skills to make a flyby look and feel interesting.
too long, but a very good one
Visuals could be better, but nice anyway. Music is very nice, fits to the visuals, and i love this style very much!
Overall it's like a HJB demo from 2000 with better graphics. I hope we'll see more like this.

too repetitive at the beginning (the huge tunnel)
besides that, it's ok, some good atmosphere etc.

Some really cool scenes!
visualice formula: emboss, dots (particularly in grids), stripes, darkness. More resolution? more and smaller dots.
it made my radeon 9600 look good back in the day, and i appreciate the use of the resolution, but i can't help but think that it's ugly now. i don't think it's artsy-fartsy or anything, just a bit past the expiration date. lord forbid that this should be adapted to be bright, upbeat demos.

Potential but the lack of polish hurts.
Things that could be improve:
- less shiny materials (or an adapted 'shine map' on them) so that the 40 years old broken wood wall doesn't seem to be varnished.
- stop centering everything in the center of the screen, even more if what you want to show is the rest of the immensity of the space around it. Your lookAt targets doesn't have to be on the ship (or any animated object) itself. :)
- overall too long. The same quantity of effort (there's a lot in there and it shows!) over less time = better prod. (but yeah that'd need a new edit of the song).
..and what is it what all those neverending tunnel demos? ..I thought it was the year of the fractal!

sorry, what year is this?
didn't like the textures
...yup, that's Visualice.
great epic space trip! and that arcade machine at the end really did it for me. I'm imagining some kind of first person r-type. would be cool if there was some violence or war maybe without giving away the arcade thing? a bit like when the monster in deities suddenly has to battle some kind of enemy in that demo or something. loved the time + planet thing. the credits look marvellous. also i like organic metal or technology. could go on with praise really. great soundtrack!
tech wise I could have liked some supersampled bumpmapping (or whatever is the technique to efficiently eliminate aliasing in bumpmaps nowadays) and perhaps depth of field or other effects/postprocessing to soften the look a bit.

VERY NICE! I loved everything about this demo. Especially the theme and the music.
What break said + nice music.
Very long, but awesome space trip, nice to chill out nearby, ok music.
Nice code and music but objects and demo scenario are trivial !
This is what i call a space opera. Stunning visuals, model and texture wise. Well placed effects and a massive soundtrack. I was glued to the screen the whole time. More of this please!
Don't know how I missed this. Great stuff :)
very much what gargaj said.
Plus: what an epic unbelievably great soundtrack!
Plus: what an epic unbelievably great soundtrack!
The soundtrack link is dead. Please don't link files in your dropbox accounts, that's just stupid!
The best demo witch spacecraft :)
one hell of a trip
Visu-rauch jointventure made one of the best fly-by demo. Excellent music score with dark creepy visuals made me shivers.
Fucking great !!!
Fucking great !!!
My most favourite from Farbrausch!
Well... hard to say anything at this point without repeating anybody else, but I really felt this needed better direction (and at least half the overall duration).
I can't help but feel "designed for Full HD" is a huge misnomer here, as it becomes painfully apparent that surfaces are pretty much all flat, muddy, and unnaturally glossy (really, the only thing that distinctly separates it from 2000–2002-era visuals is this omnipresent shader gloss that makes things look plastic instead of organic), and vast majority of the objects are painfully low-polygonal. The obsession with flypasts through haunting tunnels™ left me cold here, as I feel cdak managed it a lot better in 4k and without Trent Reznor on the soundtrack.
In short, it really pains me to realize that, instead of watching your demos and appreciating them as they are, I resort to pondering how much better they could have been. Oh well.

looks different. nice music, too many corridors. piggy
hum... at the party I thought this was pretty boring.. but apparently my demo taste has developed a lot in 2 years. Visualice's design is top notch here, the little details all over the place do it for me.
Wonderful!
Don't know how I could missed this. Pure greatness!
Well, not much to say. I think this is bad. Quite bad :/
Kinda unpolished, but what is polished really stands out.
Also spoiler alert: In the end it was just Polybius. ;)
Also spoiler alert: In the end it was just Polybius. ;)
yeah, sick and works for me this time.
never seen that much *content* in a demo lately. definitely rules.
Some cool scenes .
I was thinking about what demo to add as my 4th CDC, and well... I got reminded of this demo instantly.
I don't know what it is about this demo that makes me come back to it so much, but that's how it is, so for this reason I'm giving it a CDC.

Watched it again. Still a fantastic demo! I don't regret that CDC.
how did i forgot to thumb this one up
could indeed have been more polished but it's already awesome
uhh
Awesome, I love the music, there's some nice touches with the music synch in this too, and it's got the special Visualice touch.
Loved this in 2011, love it now
