ok, final version uploaded. slightly different colors, definitively less memory hungry and hopefully more compatible, and even one byte smaller. a safe dumb uncompressed version is also present.

Nicely done! Well screenshot is definitely not representative of the actual effect. Though the effect is nice, but not 3d like, as the screenshot looks like.
d3pth: well, wait and see for more symmetrical configurations! And, involving only GL_LINES, I don't think that a 3d analogous would change so much the overall appearence.
