Worthy winner! A quite solid prod :).

Works on my crappy ATI HD2350/WinXP. Damn solid production in all areas.
Outstanding! Absolutely gorgeous invite with so many nice touches, great soundtrack and sync and great use of Ra's graphics. The opening artwork took my breath away.
Pure quality!
Pure quality!
you know what fuck it, i know its gonna be good, i was asking for a d/l link asap bcoz i wanted to see it, you can have the thumb now, just help me to see it pleeease :D

good stuff there!! ..
Works great here on ati/win7. Lovely shadows and SSAA. Music could do with more BASS though. Maybe you guys need to get the latest monthly dx sdk updates?
That was really awesome, great shadows and lighting and the last particle transformation effect thingy was indeed amazing. I liked the music too.
fantastic!
What AstronautStebo said!
Pretty slow but nice fx, doesn´t give much info about the party - doesn´t matter since assembly doesn´t need more explanation anyway ;)
looks so smooth :-) congrats
felt a bit empty at times... maybe a texture, or another colour than grey would've improved things. Still really tight though!
kign O_o--b
Comes complete with a live show of Andromeda stripping naked and beating each other with belts.
it runs maybe on 15-20 fps or something in 640x480 res. in 1280x800 its down to 2-3 fps on Esprimo Mobile V6535, Intel 4 Express chipset. looks okay, but i guess i have to see the video for seeing it in full action.
A Nooon demo? Without Penises? :O
;)
;)
RA, i love you.

not killer, but quite strong. overall very good invitation.
about the music: there is a special subgenre - gloom in andromeda style :):):) i like it!

Solid, yet perhaps a little uninspired. Still more than worthy of thumbage, of course.
that god damn d3derr_invalidcall thing again
will continue to beg for video until it shows

Cool invtro. invitro. whaterver.
Can we have a video version please? D3DERR_INVALIDCALL all over on my GeForce GTX 295... with the latest drivers and shit.
Solid demo indeed.
At least massive 2d art in a demo
It still miss some good old 3d from my point of view.
I really liked the assembly logo part.

release the tune.ogg please :)
very good job once again everyone involved ! thanx :D
RTHandler.cpp 59?
yesss
Short and extremely sweet. I really like how it constantly promises more but then gives it only in minute amounts, a bit like a song that has a lovely hook in the bridge part, but only in the bridge.
Definitely rocks.
Fantastic.
really nice and appealing invitro!
However, your "analog primate show" after the compo scared the shit out of me.
However, your "analog primate show" after the compo scared the shit out of me.
Works with HD4650 on Win7 RC1. It's a bit short though, nevertheless an outstanding prod :)
cool!
rock solid cubes.
Awesome ilumination, and graphics by RA.
lovely shadows, colors, sound.

6800GT winxpprosp3
at a guess, perhaps it doesnt work on those cards listed because of a render target format used - you probably need gf8-series or better.
So solid it sucked my eyeballs out from my stupid head. All hail Andromeda, or feel the wrath of the Jekyll&Hyde DEATH BELT!!
The best demo at solskogen
Very cool!
Would have loved to see some textures and/or different colors, but otherwise a really solid and enjoyable prod.
the intro drawing is... gasp!
excellent code+design, that's an invitation for sure!
excellent code+design, that's an invitation for sure!
Excellent. Great 2d from ra, the main demo parts are cool with really good looking shadows, and the tune rocks.
But the suspense is killing me, will truck get his towel back before assembly? :D

Excellent gfx,music,effects and style
Way cool.
Nice how Ra's gfx has been used in a non-oldschool way. :)

totally awesome especially ra's work
good stuff! i was not really impressed by the music, though.
three great groups - such a weak ouptput.

EFFECTS
Supoib!

I wanted to do that volume dots objects-to-objects transformation fx since a long time but never found the time or occasion to do it :D
Violent fucktards
Isn't working - getting the samme error... Please fix it, or Assembly will be awfully empty... :)
The invite is strong.
I fucking hate the violent crap though. Be nice and don´t make the party feeling drain for others please. Not everyone enjoys to have crazy violent "fucktards" (as nerve said it) around themselves.
Nice to chat with Andersson at the party! hope to see you next year as well. :)

good..
I really love the 2D-graphics in the beginning. Looks good :) Oh, and the "sand effect" kicks ass :D
Nice cleanly executed effects and graphics from RA.. the music didnt have so much impact though.
Perfectly breaths the andromeda style. Perhaps just a detail, but I loved the small&cute andromeda logo in the loading part! :)
Isn't this more an advertisement than an invitation? :)
Nice way of displaying Ra's 2d graphics btw. (which are awesome as usual)
Now go back working on a new mega demo
my childhood heroes and win Breakpoint 2010 ! :)
p.s. gimme a video of that belly fight :)

not the best in compo but very good!
i find this totally uninspired and exchangable. no greater idea, just a bunch of seemingly random fx scenes, retro references and promo blabla thrown together. this is so not leaving a mark.
sorry gloom, i know it sucks having your work critized : ( , but i'm being sincerly honest. plus i simply think that all this chummy shoulder patting is nothing but a shortcut to mediocrity.

I expected more from these guys, and to me it was far too slow for what it was showing (other than the last effect). That being said, I really was a fan of the word "Assembly" being assembled :) Still I have to go with a pig on this one.
gloom: if leading demo groups like those who were involved in this prod can't assure a certain level of inspiration, pretensions, coherence & eye for detail - whoever else?
and i agree with monroe when it comes to honesty and chummy shoulder patting.

what the hell? chummy shoulder patting?!
anyways. high quality. but not a demo I will watch again. :)
anyways. high quality. but not a demo I will watch again. :)
very great invitation.
nice one!
nice, the music has the same moments as in Stargazer, but overall a plus.
assembly assembled = awesome.
BASS!
Oh yes!
I am getting seriously tired of the rgb-split distortion every second demo tries to "design" with these days. Also the cube stuff felt a bit like leftovers from Stargazer.
But in the end, Andromeda can't fail, so thumbieuppie.
But in the end, Andromeda can't fail, so thumbieuppie.
+ ra pictures are nice
+ rendering is visually nice
- rgb dist is waaaay overused
- camera jumps ditto
- as a demo it feels incoherent and not very interesting; i watched it two times (on dtv) and failed to find a memorable moment.
piggy, because it did not live up to the expectations.

I basically agree with monroe but still it was quite nice actually and done the job of being an invitation. :)
The sand effect and the use of Ra's gfx really rocks, but overall I expected much more. Of course it's still a good invtro.
Feels way too disorganized.
I like this invite demo
Liked the effects, gfx and music, but as a whole this is missing something. I can't quite put my finger on what it is, exactly. Still, this is the first decent Assembly inv after Moppi seriously raised the bar, so thumbs up for that.
[///\\\]
Awesome lighting!
Nice one!!!
Quite nice, especially the sand effect and the lighting.
neat. some bits (including the music) feel like stargazer, but whatever
The particle morpher (or whatever you want to call it) looks neat, but yeah, a bit underwhelming overall.
Lighting is nice.
I ran on a 9600GT. It ran quite slowly (low fps) at 1600x1200 with no multisampling. I was disappointed that it wasn't appreciably faster when I tried it at 1024x768. I wonder why (technically) that is.. since that usually makes a much bigger difference.

Oh yeah. The intro scrolly part was nice too -- although the scrolling was choppy (again, I wonder why it was so slow and if it's the same reason). I may have liked to see the demo run with that a little more, since I nearly forgot it was there at all until reading the comments.
Hey it's a solid, nice product with good pace, heavy music and a short fine effect at the end. It also satisfied my lust for handdrawn 2D a bit, so no complaints here, may Assembly come!
I second Gloom!
Legendary groups also have to release some nice 'inbetween' stuff..
They cannot release a new 'nexus 7' or 'Debris' or 'lifeforce' demo every month you know.. This is how it alway's has been, also in the 80's and 90's
so keep up the good work and spirit the all of you!

seems to be a great invtro but unfortunatly I just got a black screen after the building graph. And the demo simply crash like the other in fullscreen.

Big up the whole team delivering a great invtro! I'm very proud and thrilled to have this prod invite everyone over to ASM.
And yeah, I second Gloom - make demos and have fun doing it.

about the discussion about making demos i totaly agree with gloom. demos did not always need the wow effect, they also have to entertain and be nice to watch. So very good work here...
mail your easter egg hunt answers to asm AT assembly dot ORG - latest on 26th of July!
On ATI 3870 X2, win7 x64: parallax scroll up the picture at the beginning doesn't work. All I see is a blue shadow of the 'loading' cube up the center of the screen where the image should be, with white bars either side.
Also the particles and flares appear to be missing from the first light balls scene. A credit to you that I didn't notice these things first time.

Good job
great invitation. catchy effects.
Technically everything is well done. But IMO the prod is also extremely typical with no personal touch whatsoever :/
well designed / solid code / cool music
oh, yeah. Fucking awesome fxs!
a cornell box!!! What's next, happy buddhas, chinese dragons, teapot and standford bunnies in the demoscene?? :)
Despite the cornell box, the demo is very nice, and enjoyable. I specially like the music

Extra thumb for the Cornell box! ;P
And what Gloom said.
And what Gloom said.
Gotta love the rendering, the lighting, Ra's graphics, the assembly being assembled, the nexus7 lightball reference, and some very sweet moments in the music.
My complaint is the short duration of the invtro.. It ended just as I was getting into it..

dissregard the light sphere scenes, I loved it!
You have style, flow, and good design. The whole atmosphere smells pro, and giving the wibe that tells that this was fun to make.

I have yet to watch it with music, but even without it, WOW.
What sort of hardware does this require? The music starts playing, but all I get is a white screen :(
nice stuff!
Doesn't work on my laptop, but from what I remember from the compo, this was quite decent stuff with some neat real time lighting.
I second gloom in the above debate. It shouldn't be necessary for a group to release something that tops all of their previous releases to get creds for releasing it. Compared to most of the stuff released these days - this is pretty kickass after all.
As a member of a demogroup that attempts to stay active and productive today i know how much work and sweat it takes to create something that pushes the bar in all areas - music, code, graphics, direction, nudity and violence. These guys certainly lifted the bar in some, though not all, of the above disciplines at Solskogen this year. And for that, here is a thumb.

...and yeah, what they lacked on the big screen they compensated for with leather belts. So i guess its one of those you-had-to-be-there prods :P
This is way beyond anything I had expected from a solskogen production. Thumbs up.
What i saw on demoscene.tv is VERY well designed and deserves a thumb up. But i won't even try to launch it on my 3 years old PC...
A freakin' cornell box!!? :P
I do love the lightball thingies, and the sand-morphing-thing towards the end is brilliant.

it a good one
gloom: any link for the music >192kbit mp3?
gloom: any link for the music >192kbit mp3?
Cool! Nice effects, music and artwork. The sand effect at the end rocks. Is there some anaglyh stereo in the middle/logo part?
Doesn't run smoothly on my laptop.. but the music is good.
Best asm invitation for ages. Massive sound track!
It's cute!
fantastic ! Great use of typography.
high quality prod!
dynamic demo! cool music! easy and neat visuals
Quality visuals and music!
I'm afraid it looks like a 3D Studio r3 render from 10 years ago :(
Ra images are cool. Last effect is cool too.
I'm sure technically is amazing, but visually is not :( Piggy.

Boring and disorganized. Nothing special, chilling, interesting or pleasing.

I just wish people (most of which, never actually do demos themselves, or of they do, release so infrequently that it hurts), could recognize that not everything released under certain groupnames HAVE to be a fucking monster of a demo, with content and work behind it measuring months and months.
Boring. Mostly boring.
Didn`t work as an invite nor demo.
Didn't work for me. I agree that it may be technically astouding, but that just won't cut it.
One of my favourite prods is Elemental Square Garden, which is short, simple, done in few days, and not even realtime! It doesn't have to have tons of time invested in it, it just needs style and good execution, which this one is lacking.
The only good thing is the main picture, and that's only after it was linked here so it can be seen separately in it's full glory.

Nothing special but i like it for an invitro.
Whoa, full picture is actually much, much better than the video capture suggests. Tons of good detail in there. Great stuff ra :)
Nice
Mhmmm. Twitch.
gorgeous rendering
OK demo - nothing special in my eyes.
Fucks up on 3 different computers ("Microsoft wants to send an error-report...").
i agree with the general consensus that it comes across a bit 'hollow' (and hi regus ademordna as for the lightballs-in-tunnel thing) but still it's design is tight and it looks good.

Well there is also a happy buddha of sorts in the demo.
Very good 3D invitro show. Neat effects.
Rocks
video seen. beautifully flowing!
Now, this is what an invitation is supposed to look like! A lot of improved volumetric effects, which gave me that "Andromeda" feeling from "Nexus 7". You guys did well and make more of this. Oh yes, the music simply rock!
Very nice 3D demo
Lovely! Can't wait for the 2009 results!
pretty sorry
as an invitation it _would_ be OK for me, but seeing rgb distortion for the hundredfuckingthousand time totally destroyed the few things I liked about this.

Good
does not work on my GMA 950 :(
other than that, nice shadows but kinda uninteresting scenes. also, what on earth do you guys have in the datafile.

Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Like Nosfe...
Nice 2D artwork, lots of polish. A bit more time with the volumetric effect wouldn't have gone amiss, I was all like woa.... oh.
Nice invitro will prolly not be there tough :(
Great!

A Nooon demo? Without Penises? :O
Not quite, the actual demo at the party place came with a hidden scene of Andromeda guys hitting each other with belts half naked. Is that enough? :)
The channel splits are getting old and were way overdone in this. Where is the new hotness? Lame music and mediocre gfx. Piggy at best.
Very nice.
Not bad, the particle thing at the end was most excellent though.
Apart from the beginning scenes, much of it looked like recycled effects and concepts from earlier Excess demos. But not bad at all as a whole, so piggy this time.
So it's all you can do in 2009 ? no really, it won't make it for me.
Nice attitude, bro!
Oh well, give these guys a break. It's the same situation Farbrausch experienced some years ago: every single goddamn production is now expected to be better than the last one/groundbreaking/a life altering experience. A lot of people seemed to expect this one to be something like "Stargazer 2" or "Regus 2"...
I thought this was decent. Some nice light/shadow-effects (though the "lightballs in tunnel" are really, REALLY getting old) and good use of typography (only Navis seemed to notice). The particle effect looked great but was too short. Gloom's track is capable, though not as memorable as other stuff I've heard from him (e.g. Evoid Droid, Stargazer). 2D art was excellent!
All in all a solid production and a well deserved thumb.

I'm going to thumb my early birthday present from some friends up, because it's freaking awesome to have friends who just do shit like draw pictures of you for the hell of it.
And if you don't like that I don't give a shit (:

good stuff, sand effect rewls!
nice demo.
bigcheese: It never went above 16fps on my gtx 280, and maxing out 2 cores of my quad. not faster at 1280x800 than 1920x1200 8xAA. using latest 190-some drivers.

Nice shadows and graphics, pretty boring... everything else. Piggy until you make the particles light up.
Nice invite. Loved the artwork in the beginning!
Great gfx and music
AstronautStebo: You already thumbed you fucktard.
Decent!
kewlness deluxe!
Nice invit. It could have used more 3D modeling and texturing but the cool effects compensate for the lack of real 3D artwork.
I am proud of you guys! ;)

yeah
nice cubes
Nice
Simply Rulez!!!
Great shadows, particle cube and presentation!
hmpf. yet another one with somehow red ribbons... but i loved the last 'recube' effect, so thumby!
I like the shadows.
Nice shadow trick ;)
this thumb is for ra
Wow, nooon! Well.. Ra! And assorted badasses. And a familiar looking guy in a towel. Dunno about that second guy.
Mmm. well okayish. Light balls were nice.
great work!!
yep )
Wow, great invitation. The effects are really cool
quality
andromeda quality!
For the small details missing in most demos :)
Good
This is great!
Enjoyable.
jep.
nice lights
Shiny
nice invite
Immediately recognisable Andromeda's touch + Gloom zik + Ra's gfx make it an excellent invitro.
OK
Good stuff
Very nice!

nice demo with nice music
Demo is ok!
great
Was a great asm invitation :)
Weird, I was sure to have given this a comment already - oh well, love the Ra graphics - tune had me in the "second" part <3
.
can't believe that i forgot to thumb this up, nice invitation, A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. soundtrack! on the very edge of getting the CDC from me!
yes
Didn't notice that one earlier. Good invite demo, and unexpected collaboration !
