Sure it's cute but the sounds are a bit of a letdown. But I guess it looks great for those who haven't seen any 4k's before, since they can relate to the real thing, thus helping in the outreach project.

the "arty farty morons" are probably coders. i have no comprehension of the effort that goes into copying a picture by pixelling, so i keep my mouth shut about it. anyway, let's not spam the comments anymore.

shane, badboy, etc: I think "If the source or algorithms were copied by a scene coder the critics would be ripping this apart!" applies better to coders... still being a coders doesn't give us the privilege to replicate content _and_ pretend it was ours, something we didn't do. btw, real sorry about the sounds, they were admittedly done in quite a rush and Iq has a GM.DLS version which sounds a lot better than my version (smaller too), but we discussed it and decided to make it a REAL 4k (as in, no "cheating"), and it sounded different on several computers anyway :o

I wasted too many bytes on the gfx and didn't managed to give Gargaj enough room for a decent sound system - yet he managed to make some! I'll improve this, I always learn from mistakes.

hm...it's pure fixed pipeline, and no rendertargets even no textures, it should work. In the other hand I'm very new to d3d, and only learnt what I needed so far... Is your mail in the user profile a good one?

I remember when I was standing in front of a computer store about 10 years ago I think. There one of the first VGA PCs spent his whole time tracking the video from the hard disk. So here is my thumb for bringing it to my laptop in 4k in 4 times the resolution ;-)

@auld2: The win32 font system with opengl can make 3D fonts, so it's probably the font engine.
yes, system fonts (d3d powered this time, although I have a ogl clone of this intro using wgl fonts).
