Well, no bad, but basically they do in 8 channels what most trackers were able to do with 4. The reason is probably the total lack of effects while the notes are playing.
A midi based system gives you a lot of freedom when composing, it's very natural, but it's totaly inneficient from a resource usage point of view.

The music is composed in Cubase and U17's player acts as a soundmodule live in Cubase (MROS driver). It's a pity it was not adoped by more people.
You can plug in your MIDI keyboard and play around with the voice sets in this demo as well :)
