i used realtime ps3 shaders in the precalc of mental excession water physics. that does mean iam mean.
errr...smash, the source code for the nvidia stuff says 2003, its a very old nvidia demo.
strange, i thought it appeared sept 2005, checking the date of the files.
anyway, the concept of doing ao like this isnt new - 3d packages have been doing AO using a hemisphere of directional lights for ages, nvidia didnt think it up either. the nice thing about the implementation in this 4k is that it runs at a decent framerate - which that nvidia sample certainly doesnt (it runs at roughly one frame every 2 seconds on my gf7800 - whereas the 4k runs at 30fps+). if you still dont believe that i hadnt even seen the nvidia sample until after this was released (until Bull posted the link actually), well... you'll just have to take my word for it. :)

Nice for 4k. Ok at first on 2.6 5900. But once more 'objects' came on, became quite slow. Single concept/scene doesn't inspire much, but technically and basic composition is solid. Another Smash FLT hit.

I found this impressive but artistically disturbing. I don't understand the relevance of the letters used and they seemed, as 3D objects generated from 2D sprites, to highlight how code was squashed to create an effect; as in another 3D generated model would have seemed more impressive even if the coding was the same. If the letters had spelt something other than "the number of 'cox'" this would have also made it appeal to me more.
The NVIDIA link mentioned earlier has been moved to here. It involves teapots, as a lot of NVIDIA's dev stuff has done for a while now it seems.

No comment? I love this intro. It's very minimal visually, but it works because it utilizes the aesthetic to the fullest. Amazing music, one of my favorites in intros of this caliber. Clearly it's just some very simple oscillators and gm.dls samples driven through a cheap but surprisingly good sounding reverb, but it works extremely well! I love the melody.
