The idea was quite similar to Fuzzy dominoes by fuzzion, so nice...er... piggy ;)

cool idea.. bit repetative and maybe too much camera changes.
Music was good for 4k

Would've been good if it lasted 5 seconds and had less annoying camera. Or maybe with more different domino formations?
added on the 2006-04-18 13:21:40 by break break
slack: Yeah, we found it too, but well... we have better lighting for sure. :)

break: We were running out of time, and more importantly - space. We'll try to fix it, so there may be final release.

As for the music, I'm going to release the synth used in this intro in some time, so stay tuned.

really nice effect

Like this, only 10 times longer and with the same cameras/with repeated until death, and without a proper end...

Too long for the content, otherwise pretty cool. IT should have more different patterns..

So far the best music out of bp06 4ks I've got running.

good idea, but way to long/repetitive

nice but too repetitive.

Nice idea, though done before and repeatitive. Perhaps adding few more ideas/scenes, something diferrent would make it?
added on the 2006-04-20 03:21:32 by Optimus Optimus
a perfect example, when it comes to destroy a good idea. If the demo was 5 times shorter it would have been nice. The audience is not interested in "wheee we've got HW lighting and shadows" but in overall combination of programming and composition. Like ie in Calodox intros. Get a graphician/editor next time because obviously You have problems with that part.

bonzaj: We did have an editor made especially for this intro, but it didn't happen at all as we ran out of space and had to use some domino paths as camera paths. It helped a bit, but it was still repeative and we ran out of time, so massive changes were impossible.

It's easy to write "add this or that", but it's a lot harder to actually add it to this 4k. I know the intro is repetitive and all, but we didn't have time to fix it and we really wanted to release anything. Still, if we manage to fix some of the mentioned problems, there will be final release.

Anyway, for the first 4k in my life I don't think it's that bad. I hope we'll have more luck with our next prods.

(Really) Good effect, but it keeps going on and on and on and on. If you had cut it down to a time where it would keep being interesting, then it would be great, but this is just too poor.

fuzzion version is better imho

nice idea and good effect.
however, a bit slow and too long.
and there is no scene change.
added on the 2006-04-21 05:33:25 by got got
not everybody knows that additional loop or small function is about 200 bytes long (typical), and when your prod is compiling to 4093 bytes just before deadline there is no way to add some logic that makes it better for audience;)
the camera paths as kk said before were based on dominoes path and we were nothing to do with that, simply running out of room. stick with 4k's and you will see...
(i know that there are much more sophistciated 4k's out there, but what the heck it was first try :) )

i was very much fond of this at the party, really nice. a bit too overwrought though.

spec & KK: try to read the comments with understanding. Don't tell me that ending this intro after first non repetitive camera movements would cost you some extra bytes. You just don't have a clue how audience receives productions on big screen. It was like wow in the begining, and slowly going to "what a repetitive crap". I said: "If the demo was 5 times shorter it would have been nice" and not - try to insert different paths to make it less repetitive. I would not care for this prod If It was made by a people living more than 400 km from my place. So here it goes.

Well, you are right... almost. About 1 hour before compo deadline we managed to make this look at least remotely like a demo. Of course we would like to make it better, but there was no time for serious changes, especially getting musician to shorten the track.

As I've said, we really wanted to release anything as it's our first 4k production. It didn't came our too good, but I consider it success that we managed to make anything on time. If you don't like it - fine. I'm happy that there are some other people that do like it. :)

+ the concept and idea
+ fx
+ music

- the camera movement
- too repetitive and monotonous

Better direction and this would be a killer production. Still a thumb up though.

Auto thumb up for first prod and for KK sharing synth code when asked. Good luck with the future 4ks

I have the “domino-day” 4k idea on my todo-list for quite a long time. And of course it is only my fault that I have never got the time to actually do anything on 4k since 1996 – but sorry – after watching this one I was disappointed and really angry that they simply “wasted” this domino-day idea with this production lacking any kind of design and actually nearly all of the great things that would have been possible with domino-bricks!
Would have been cool if slow-motion instead of fast+long. Music is nice for me. Little thumb.
