at the compo i found it polished but dull, but after reading the infofile i have to give it a fat thumb nevertheless.

could be better but still deserves a thumb up
The style and music were not really my cup of tea, but in their own terms, they were very very cool, and gave me the impression that you guys put a hell lot of work into making it. Oh and it rocked the bigscreen too. Thumb up!
über top polished demo hehe
anyways the 3D is nice

heh, the message is that there are Arabic terrorists in space? (the font seems arabic at least :P)
Nice content tho.
Nice content tho.
It crashes when the probe is approaching the planet (at 133297ms or something), but what I saw thus far was damn excellent for a science buff like me. I'll thumb it now and praise you more when I see the rest of the demo.

oh yeah, it doesn't really crash.. it just stops updating the visuals. The music plays fine, and I can quit the demo by pressing esc.. if I try to fast forward past the point, I get garbled visuals.
With no fucking doubt, best demo in the compo. Good work, Sector Omega, this is your best demo, imho!
the reply.
have you ever heard about mipmaps?
or content?
or content?
Used to be a big fan of The Cosmos so had high expecations and the demo started surprisingly well (on the second try), but i expected a slightly more grandiose climax.
The thumb goes for the music and the amount of work.

Not THAT dynamic, but still nice to look at, very polished !
++ great, powerful music
+ good 2dgfx
+- code
-- ugly 3d-models
imho are the visuals too steril for the poweful soundtrack

still very polished and worth a thumb up
Some very nicely designed screens and cool music. Unfortunately the visuals stop several times for 5-6 seconds and not because it's swapping (1g ram here).
yup, a pity they have such a busy life nowadays and can't dedicate more time to demoscene.
I found something missing in this demo but don't know what, even if I appreciate it has lots of efforts (or at least, textures :D)
In any case, I definitely loved the music. By the way I was wondering before the party when would sectoromega release something "cosmic"... hehehe! congrats in any case, I liked it.

just go on guys and your demos will be better and better. use less photos, texts, facts and more demoish things
imo a lot of work put in the wrong concept.
The code left me a bit sad due to too low-poly and static meshes for a 3d card, but the music really saved the day. Also I found strange the scanned gfx but now reading the info I realize they are a proper fit. all things considered... +2 -1 = thumbs up.
The demo from BCN101
This is way better than the winning demo. I still have to check the other compo entries to see if it deserved the 1st place.
About the demo itself, I found it "beautiful" and stilish, as all other Sector Omega prods. Music is great as usual. If I had to complain about something, I would say that code is a bit weak, and the demo stops sometimes for no apparent reason (and it isn't swapping).
All together this is a thumb up. But be aware that I now have high expectations, so you'll have to earn the next thumb ;).

It's not hitech code, nor graphics, but the design is good and very polished. Congrats yero for doing a cool themed demo. Know onto voyager 1 and 2 8)
crashes here when the "thing" approaches the "kind of" planet :'(
ATI Mobility Radeon x300
The demo was looking quite nice, the music is the best one I heard from Josss.
Looking forward for a fixed version :P

there is some unfinished things imo... still good music
Congratulations!!! Sector Omega rulez! :)
Idea & Design: Very good but I want more coding effects and a lot of little objects filling the screen :)
Object 3D: good, except that thing with spikes... too much simple and foolish...
Music: Absolutely amazing! JosSs, te sales! haha... the beginning seems Purple Motion, I love that "tubeBass" filtered. Some distortion in explosions maybe... Cool cool, esa coop!! hahaha :)
Enhorabuena SectorOmega.

actually very bad considering the effects but on the whole it's a rulez.
a demo obviously done with a lot of care and work ... well done. It s nice to see people investing that much of their time in a project. It s rare. Resect for that.
This demo is very good, maybe the only demo I really wanted to see again after the party.
Josss' music is, of course, impressive... It's just like a real Sci-fi movie OST, with some oldschool feeling.
Graphics, code, etc are Ok, despite the huge memory usage.

Very good one!! specially the music!!
Good script and concept in general... but.. I have the feeling that some scenes have lack of something that I still don't know... :/
anyway... very very good work!!!

ok, i finally was able to watch it (more or less) on another computer..
I liked parts with that shadow in the background, like 2d scenes, but also they were empty, what about moving the background? The part with that demosceneish object, what that object means inside the demo?
Music is quite cool, direction is cool as well, effects aren't :(
thumbs up! you're getting there! :)

abit boring but nice

nice beginning, crash when surfing near a planet, i wait a video.
Same fault as trace, on a Radeon 9200 and 9800 pro :-(
It deserved a better place at the compo.
Although I can definately see that a lot of work was put into this, I need some innovation to keep me happy these days.
I can understand the authors being dissappointed, but I probably agree with the voting this year.

great music.
some scene ain't seemed good.
however good story taste.

I have to agree with Lee and Rebuto on this one. You can definitely see they invested some time in making this, but it just doesn't feel convincing. There's a lot more space-oriented 3d-scene players around, and they do it better.
That, and the guitars really turned me off.

ultrarulez!

should have been ranked 1st even if Limp Ninja Antifact is cool :p
Very polished graphics and superb music. Maybe a little effect-empty, but allways liked story-telling prods
very very very good

Nice visuals but pretty boring...
A nice surprise. Well,. I didn't find it boring but really nice and very well presented from the beginning till the end. Perhaps it's the theme and the great music that makes it for me! Pitty that it bugs in my Radeon at my home PC and also eats too much memory..
p.s. AD ASTRA PER ASPERA!

ps
All people at party place already knew your delicate sense between boreness and sarcasm... ;D
In my modest opinion this demo deserved to won, yero you see? a coup de coeur right now?
The winning demo from Limp Ninja was pretty interesting in the side of code, but does not fits with and overall conjuntion and assemble of GFX,Music, code like this one the message , anyway, I accept this message, rather than the message of Limp Ninja leader at prize ceremony.
Cheers yero and JoSS don't let this result dis-encourage you!

seems to crash on mine, too:
1gig of ram with a 2,8 64bit AMD, and a radeon9550, driver ver 4.9...
I turned logging on:
Error while playing demo (143125ms): Effect name: "scene#3: inverse"
please fix 'em, because it rules otherwise.

Really impressive graphics, script and music! Maybe the flight could have more polygons in the anthenna (it was the only 3D object in the screen and you can still notice the polygons).
In my oppinion this demo does not need more effects than it have, why adding something that will break the atmosphere? And yes, I agree with JaK :)
This is, definitely, hard work. Congratulations! :D

Limp Ninja leader
Limp Ninja has no leaders?
Freezes as the ship reaches the planet, then continues with a spike-ball thing, but obviously not the way it should look (its untextured, with the lower half of the screen flashing black + white). xpsp2, dual 3ghz xeon, 2gb ram, quadro fx 1000.
a very well designed and coherent prod that suffers from a lame concept and lack of coded effects.
nice.

I think I made it sound a bit more offensive than I meant, sorry for that. My point was, the spanish scene has some really talented people, but you guys just slack off a bit too much. If what I said hurt any feelings, hugs are for free :)
pig for ok...

Haven't seen it, have read the .nfo, and am thumbing because I think that the reason for making the demo + finishing and presenting the demo deserve a thumb up. If it doesn't have enough explosions for you go watch TV and complain that they don't show anything new there. I would like an osX version so I can watch it (:
i liked it... and that's a lot of saying, taking i don't like 99% of new demos (i won't complain tho, since I stopped making anything for the scene long ago)
Boring theme...
I wouldn't like SO to change their style. They definitely have a style of their own and I like it. They put shiny polish on the visuals. What this demo is missing is not style... it's missing something else... it's like jazz, "if you have to be explained what jazz is, you ain't never gonna know". :)
I recognize the load of work that was put into this and many people love it, that's all that matters. :) Your prods are getting better all the time, keep it up. :)

Someone spent a lot of time on this, but it is so pretentious that it is close to embarassing to watch it :) It's a bit like reading scene poetry without scene poetry. I coin the phrase 'spanish invisible scene poetry' for this demo. The rgba paradise intro has it too. All is full of hard work, but also all full of non engaging content. Looking forward to the next one though.
As already said, it's easy to see you spent a lot of time on this. But dunno, it somehow didn't entertain me, it lacks a certain something.
Anyway, some parts were great (some subtle effects mainly) and josSs as always composed a great soundtrack, congrats.

has some very beatiful screens, but the music is kinda mediocre, and the thing just bores the hell out of me. Scene players are kinda 199zero
Not my cup of tea, nor now nor on the bigscreen.
Thumb up for this great tribute to Carl Sagan.
And as most current demos seem to be short of content, thumb up for the courage.
A third thumb for "The Dragon In My Garage". ;)

holy hell! Needs a freaking NASA substation to run it; but freaking awesome demo.
Love: music!! Especially opening percussion & bass. Great 2D stuff and magic concept.
Also loved infofile and logos for demohellos XD
Best thing i've seen in a long time...

After the introduction it starts getting all fucked up and all I see is artifacts!
Fix the damn thing! How dare you to make something with the great Carl Sagan that doesn't work on my machine??? FIX-IT! (or a video, at least...)

Where is my bugfix? :(
Very cool idea :)
=)
Kind of cool. I love how the demo started. Music seems distorted which is bad to me.
I love the soundtrack, it gives the whole demo a nice flair.
Same here.
Some gfx parts doesn't showed.
Tested on: nFx1400 Quadro and Intel Graphics Delecerator xD.
Later will be test on x600 and x700.. and perhaps (if not lazzynes) on a nFx5700.
This one would normally be a piggy-demo for me, but this one actually had the scariest amount of stuff that i have been planning to put (or did it already) in a demo. Not so well executed though and not the most original ideas, but i still liked it in a very very strange way.
Very, very nice graphics and music (I have yet to hear a tune by JosSs I DIDN'T like...) and concept, except for a few things: Every time a piece of the plaque appeared during the 'analysis' scene, my computer froze for a few seconds. Also, there were a LOT of strange clipping issues with the Pioneer probe.
(nerd mode on)
Lastly, as an astronomer I feel obligated to point out that Pioneer 10 is actually heading for Aldebaran (68 light years away) and will take 2 million years to get there, not 15,000. Well, unless it falls into a time warp or slingshots around something. I'm guessing you knew that because you did enough research to find the date it was pronounced dead...

Two thumbs for the idea, grapihics and the music. Too bad it crashed halfway, but still one thumb up :)

Pleeeeeeeeeeease, let us watch this demo!
Pleeeeeeeeeeease, let us watch this demo!
good work :)
Every aspect is superb! High quality music, design, grahics and code throughout. The chords towards the end even had a feel to Desert Dream by Kefrens! :)
hmmm, there is lot of stuff on this and much potential, couple of design elements, but this is still a boring 3d-flybie.
*Please* fix it so it works on ati radeon 9800 and stuff? I really want to see the second half. If it's anything like the music... maybe the most enjoyable demo i've ever seen.
Thanks for a fix!
the demo seems to freeze when the satellite approaches the "new planet". the image stops and the music continues. no error-message. (gf6800, winxp)
you are very good....
Nice moments and clever design and story.
Nice moments and clever design and story.
The idea was great and could have been exploited some more. I was expecting some surprises, or at least a more original ending, which unfortunately didn't come. That said, good design and, overall, good work.
Very nice.
Ran fine start to finish on my P4 3.2 / 6600GT PC. A strong thumb up for the tribute and the production. Very, very nicely done!
yero thanks!
you guys rule. severe upthumbage.

a cinematic demo and well done. some colors are simply ugly (eg. the planet), but the design is up to the standards most of the time. i don't mind that the story speeds up and slows down sometimes - it makes it a bit like the oldschool megademos with multiple parts. it's such a pity that the right arrow key does not work during the loading screen :)
wow, that was nice, a bit boring in the middle, but the statement "to Carl Sagan" at the end rocked :)
I'm sorry this is just plain boring.
Liked it... good job guys, and hey Josss, I really liked the music.
cinematic prod, which i usually don't like in demos (lack of innovative effects must be fixed with good storytelling and framescript) - unfortunately the story in this demo is a bit boring flyby and the design elements are a bit embarassing. but it's not bad.
does this need more than ps3.0? looks & sounds great, but it's mostly white after "going to planet" part
it's ok, it's alright
@yero
Yeah... I just played it again and... Ooops. Looks like I owe you an apology. (Though in my defense I did think it was intentional since you'd gotten everything else right... including, had I looked more carefully, Aldebaran.)
@astu:
My laptop's got a GeForce Ti 4200 Go chip, apparently one of the last PS1.1 cards. It works, albeit very very slowly in the message processing part.

Very nice and clean look but I was waiting for a second, more energetic part...
That part with the probe entering that solar system, with the alien font and all, was really cool, and the whole demo built up nicely up until that point, but after that the whole thing went kind of flat and uninteresting. The music and the whole concept save this demo from utter ruination, though, so piggy.
not awesome, but big respect for the work, and i like the greetings part with original "fonts/logo"
no specific effects in this demo but great work.
The final result is beautiful :)

really kewl demo, i like the gfx and the music very much.
Liked the concept and some of its design elements.. got boring towards the end though.
Greets to Yero!

Late thumb.
And here is my thumb too!
simply put, this is a totally underrated piece of amazing demo.
good stuff, epic track. maybe scenes are bit too static.
created an interesting atmosphere.
rocks
Great!
