very boring
I fully agree with "thom", I really enjoyed every TRACTION demo, and this intro is brilliant ! Traction demos always brings us something new, and this intro is full of new interesting things and scenes.
Very good work guys I really like this intro!!!!
Very good work guys I really like this intro!!!!
good, but imho not as good as its predecessors
but the scene in the screenshot rocks!
pretty decent. really nice stuff dudes =)
a clear winner.
.. damn finnish geek-goths.

this is so incredibly beautiful!..
reminds me quite a lot on bypass*s "kardiogramm", but much more content and somehow more "sophisticated". preacher, zou simplz rock!

TRACTION good work.
decent design.
good music.
great scene.

good music.
great scene.
Contrary to what preacher says in the info file, this does not run on win32, right? (64bit only?) If so, please recompile. :)
Very cool. I was beginning to fear that they left the trademark out of it but there it was, in the end. :) I love the Traction-style, keep it up guys.
nice design!
Preacher: Merci. :)
Also, thumb up, since this is clearly brilliant.

numba one
a beautiful manifesto of an uncompromising artist.
Lovely! I really like the style and the music.
Ooooh, it got a thumb down from shane, that means that it rules even MORE than I thought it did.
Just, really, really solidly good. And not dark. It's good to see demos that have a solid white basis, not black.

one word...stunning! :)
very nice. and finally a very nice story :)
I'm already waiting for "Fiat lux".
Car tuning ahead. :D

kool DESIGN-SHOCK!
but i kind of agree with shane that this is little boring... thumb up anyway

Respect to Preacher, Traction releases seem to be getting better and more polished all the time. Pure quality.
<3 traction <3
I forgot to mention: use a high perf timer next time, it'll look much better.
oh yes.
This kind of minimalistic wireframe intros aren't usually my cup of tea, but I digged this quite a fucking lot.
soooo pjuutiful and nais
Nice, but a tad boring
Clean lines, some nice moments, especially after the middle, even if a bit boring..
this one is phaat! an adorable piece of demomaking
my favourite in the compo. brilliant!
yea yea ok =D
Now that was very, very good. Clean, consistent and tightly packed. Beautiful, but I thought it would get lost amongst other intros with more 'brute force' effects. I really wanted to see it in top3.
a beautiful piece of art. great design, fitting music, and a meaning. respect to preacher.
AND it runs fluid on my gf4 :D
AND it runs fluid on my gf4 :D
just traction...
broken link
oh damn i missed this during the compo. had to pee :)
but this is sure one of my favorites from the 64k compo at asm, i think i would've voted it 1st if i had actually seen it during the compo :)

Crap
Very good ! I think we found the true Replay successors :D
this is the design! Loved the mood, the colors and the prod.. this should be part of visuals at a club or something
This intro would have deserved to be in the top 3... Concept and execution both rocked
as apposed to the other traction stuff i remember seeing (i hardly ever remember things i see after a little while) this one doesn't suffer from the "one good scene, one bad scene" syndrome, and that makes the whole difference. this one totally rocked!
Biology rules, skyscrapers sukcs! Very simple nice intro anyway ;)
I voted first place for this one (Che Guevara as second and Origami as third). A real disappointment this one didn't make it into top 3. Love the design.
solid
thats a really cool one. Lovely design throughout, nice consistency, and i really loved the change to white on black towards the end.
clean traction style. the infofile is a part of the intro;)
sweet stuff
good, but a bit boring
Really, really great. Not boring but relaxing :). Design and music fit together perfectly.
fresh minimalistic trip
Wow, very nice, I like this one :-)
i'm not sure about this..
Wow, a trip from simple atoms, via DNA, single cells, etc. to skyscrapers and then onto the stars. I even think I spotted a "2001"-monolith aswell :)
Very clean and crisp-looking.
Very clean and crisp-looking.
Ran totally smooth and beautiful here, great mellow feel, nice ambient music and non cluttered progression.
Great 64k, I'll be keeping this for a while I reckon. :)
Great 64k, I'll be keeping this for a while I reckon. :)
the time it takes to watch this is well spent imho. traction is all about clean design!
very nice style
Sweet. traction is now one of my top groups.
long nice 64k.. too bad my eyes are bad, couldn't see the small particles on the bigscreen.. gotta get glasses
should have been in top 3. but not first :)
nice!
very nice, especially that flowerscene was pretty :)
and damn, what a nice tune!!
and damn, what a nice tune!!
This was my favourite in the compo! Unlike most of the contributions in the demo compos, this one has a clever storyline and a very unified visual design. The soundtrack fits it's minimalistic style very well. Deep house music, clean form language and a philosophical approach to micro and macro. Great work!
An Intro like a tea-party: pleasant but boring.
i like it a lot. nice idea. and the fact that it starts white and ends black is really cool.
Rather nice.
A nice, clean, refreshing intro to watch. Very enjoyable. The soundtrack fits it well too.
very cool & refreshing design. the intro creates a really special atmosphere. the music starts out boring, but it grows. annoying: a bunch of instruments are slightly out of tune.
too boring for a thumb up, but some ideas were very nice!
I'm not a big fan of the minimalistic graphical style, but no group pulls it of as smoothly as Traction. The music rocked, as well as the baby face texture generator. And to my amazement the intro ran even on my crappy Linux laptop with a stock Debian wine :)
nice
damn cool. Sometimes slightly 'boring' but still the idea and execution were good enough.
fells4me like its kinda unfinished.
but roxx.
traction for the masses. ahh... not so for the masses... for me at least. traction still roxx! crap... a im drunk2much...

very nice!
Simple, yet very beautiful and nice.
good composition, nice to watch, and (of course) I like a bit biological background
Impressive and different for its small file size. Music was OK.
Some nice original ideas in there.
I didn't like it as much as I've liked some other Traction prods, but it should have ranked higher. I don't think it was boring.
Well, either I did not understand the message of the demo or it is way too alternative for me. Whatever be the answer, I find lack of synchro kind of surprising. Still, grab a piggy for something different than a rotating cube.
very delicate ideas, I've got a feeling that all traction demos/intros are inspired by the incoming knowledge from various classical topics of mathematics and informatics.
Like Traction by Traction, but less weird. :)
neat
More a demo than an intro to judge about the purpose.
Excellent design and musique == "RiesenChill" :D
But please use a more proper font...
serif-letters are whick-whack and didn't fit in the
whole picture

totaly inspiring!
good idea, good execution
i call it to be nominated for the

this production is: wonderful! A demo like a dream... and that in 64 k! lovely!
Flatty design rulez
that's my thumb. you deserve it. great!
extremely nice!
Not found of the music, but the code and visuals are very interesting

Nice one. I liked the atoms and the music
definately , but i can understand why it didn't make it first.
Simple and beautiful. Rocked in all aspects but the music.
Great
Great stuff here! The music ruled as well as the awesome koode. Very stylish in every respect. It has a slight and fresh generative arts feel. Keep it up!
Great! I like the particules galore!
Great!
(just a question: Does the title means that all fiat-owners are homo? ;)

rulz!
nice tracks , experimental & valuable visual grope. RuLeZ !!
music is okay, but the rest is boring...
Cool intro. I liked it more watching it at home than what I did at the party, though... maybe there wasn't enough whizz-bang to reach the highest rankings at the party. pan: "fiat homo" is latin, and I guess the best translation is "let there be Man".
Very nice but too long (and weird overlap/transparency bug during the molecules sequence)
Now THIS is an Intro.
Coherent design? Check.
Effects? Check.
Maths? Check.
Finnish? Check.
Well done, guys. Should've been #1.

splendid! everything is great, especially, the monolith.
Wonderful demo.
<3 spooky mode
ok
didn't thumb this up before? here goes
pleasant!
Pretty nice but too boring.
After reading "the making of" in a diskmag, it was a more interesting and enjoyfull watch. Gets a thumb up now! :)
Traction rulez! What to add here else? Look above ,I second Depth. quote:"... fresh generative arts feel. Keep it up!"
very smooth.
oh holy crap, what a wonderful production. Pure bliss. Awesome design. Absolutely gorgeous. Dunno what else to say. :-)
Could you throw open module from intro ?
please :)
please :)
fucking brilliant
How smooth!
Intro rules like all the other traction prods.
OS X binaries are now working and statically linked. Greetings to Sir Garbagetruck :)

big thumb ups for the osx port!
The Mac port link above contains a .exe :(
run it in console, should work.
Thanks for the OSX version!
Dad1916: the "exe" is in fact a shellscript with binary data in it (I suppose some sort of depack via gzip). So just open a terminal window, change into the demo-dir and type: ./fiathomo.exe

Fantastic :)
good work, but boring.
Haha... when I watched this, first I thought it was an ambient VectorObjectShow, then I realized what was actually going on... and then (not having read the documentation, naturally) I thought "You know, those ID people are gonna hate this". And then there was the Monolith from 2001. Excepting that, and the music, this was really cool. Plus, the Linux version worked fine on Ubuntu 5.10 with all the latest trimmings. Thank you.
(I don't think the music had quite enough... weight? power? bombast? to match the story.)
(I don't think the music had quite enough... weight? power? bombast? to match the story.)
thanx for osx port: could be packed better (ie. *.gtz or *.bz2 instead of *.sitx), but the demo itself is computations for computators!
good, a bit boring yes, but good, and thx for the source code
i like it
Very moody. First 64k tonight that actually ran well. Nice techno flowers. Simply cool. Source.
nice and simple. i wish there were more simple things without a real new massive expenssive h/w :D
Simply great !
top notch execution, great sense of style. boring - but not criminally. deserved a higher rank.
pure beauty!
Worth watching 1 time, but not more than this. So just a pig. Overrated at the moment.
ok
not that entertaining..... boring.
Very nice. Keeping it simple but beautiful.
stylish
Nice design.
Too slow & a little bit empty imho.
Too slow & a little bit empty imho.
Brings calm.
Great intro!
<3 Traction design.
Ah, one of my favourite intros! From big bang to megacity in 64 kbs; nice ideas and beautiful design throughout. Great job, Preacher!
this was nice
how could i forgot to thumb this
Very relaxing and beautiful intro.
Very nice effects and quite a lot of them!
However, the music absolutely ruins it for me - dull, duller, dullest!
However, the music absolutely ruins it for me - dull, duller, dullest!
traction!
relaxing prod, i love the music!
Possibly one of the best Mac demos ever, even if just a port... Very stylish.
And I forgot to give it a thumb. The music is incredible and really adds to the atmosphere. When the jelly-fish pulse, or it zooms out to the universe... I love it.
it's perfect.
Lovely
Forgot it was a 64k.
I forgot to thumb this!! How silly of me :)
"An Intro like a tea-party: pleasant but boring."
I think that's the intro which made me contact Preacher. And it still stands as one of the most beautiful 64k intros to grace the planet to date.
mac port dosen't work :(
This was the first 64k I saw that wasn't just a "look ma, 3d models! with textures!" type of intro, and will therefore always be one of my favourites :)
OH SHIT
wtf, never thumbed this up? well after seeing Preacher at a NVscene photo telling about this it must get a thumb now.. Better late than never...
yep!
Both boring and brilliant moments in this one. It's all damn consistent though.
Still my favourite.
Oh, and thanks so much for putting out the source!
cool 8-)
Exellent! Gets me in chill mode, could watch this for hours...
very stylish. Maybe the best from traction?
the osx port is an exe.....
Very nice production :)
^^ indeed :)
big ups for the music!
big ups for the music!
good and a name that, even though i may not fully get it, makes me smile
+ Very stylish
+ Direction
- Predictable
- A few transparency bugs and a crash for exit :)

nifty
VERY nice 64k, from quarks and atoms, through complex life forms, to the galaxies :)
Smooth, but maybe a shy of fluid action..
Still one of the best ever!
great style!
CDC for the best demo ever :)
Nice nice!
The music on this was a source of my inspiration at one point. Another defining Traction prod, and it's in 64k!
The style is still so beautiful.
I tried to run some mac demos and they came as .app which I can run. But this one is an exe and when I click it opens as a txt file. Might be simple, but I am not familiar with mac and can't find something on the internet right now (I get how to run windows exe with simulator on mac, not a supposedly mac osx demo that is exe)
I realized it was supposed to be run with wine simulator :P
So so soothing, the soundtrack sets such a nice mood. Kinda expected the spooky version to invert the colours, other than that it was a nice addition.
However I feel a bit like v3nom does, it's one ace demo - and pretty splendid you squeezed it all into 64k - but somehow this won't really click with me for some reason.
Nonetheless a lovely demo, that's worth watching a couple of times - just to enjoy the ideas - and to read poetry without seeing words.

Nice
Where are the gay italian cars?
I guess the name was invented some Saturday night at the parking lot, where the Traction guys were comparing their tuned Toyotas and some wannabe with his lame-ass Italian car tried to burn some rubber.
I hadn't watched this before and now that I have I must say Preacher's later prods (especially muoto) make a lot sense. The ambient-esque effects were interesting enough while the smooth transitions kept the whole flow together. A sudden change to darkness was a good choice.
The Mac version doesn't have anything to make it run.. just a windows exe file! :?
nice!
The files included with the "OSX port" are a joke. A Windows executable file is included. Despite what Preacher says, Windows executable files will not run on Mac, PPC or not, no matter where you run them from. A UNIX executable file would, but that's not what is included in the package. Also, if it's only supposed to run on PPC Macs, please remove the "OSX Intel" indicator from the listing.
On the plus side, the music is included as a separate file, so I guess I can just listen to that...

Really pretty, even with all the transparency errors. :D
Ah the old ones, especially the soothing ones...

Traction prods always feature some nice "mathematical" type effects, but rarely do they have any sort of consistancy/design/theme/whatever. Instead it's more of a case of here's one thing, here's the next thing, etc..
But this was the complete opposite. And it's fantastic, dammit! Plus they still managed to squeeze in a couple of 2D images into the 64K'er.
Loved it from start to finish.
